A well-designed Finder for your Telescope
IMHO, most 'finders' are badly designed and difficult to use. The finder needs to be aligned with the telescope to which it is attached, but most finders are deficient in two respects: 1), they require you to look straight through, which causes extreme discomfort when trying to find a star high in night sky, and 2), they use 6 screws, 3 fore, and 3 aft, to push the finder around until it aligns with the telescope.A better (small) finder uses a flexible forward restraint (in this case, a rubber O-ring), and an orthogonal pair of adjustment screws pushing at right angles to each other against a plunger or spring. This finder uses a right-angle prism so you look in a comfortable direction when the telescope is pointing upward. This finder is quickly adjustable, there is no danger of it accidentally falling off the telescope, and is comfortable to use.Optical quality isn't perfect, but at the price this sells for, even brand new, it is an excellent finder for any amateur telescope.

Good finderscope - fits Celestron Omni 127 SCT bracket perfectly - focusing instructions in my review (no instructons included)
Once I figured-out how to focus it (on my own, but I did post a question to the product page, which confirmed I was doing it right), this turned-out to be a very nice finderscope. It does not come with any instructions at all, which was pretty ridiculous (ahem, High Point - a simple half-page instruction sheet would have helped). FYI - to focus the finderscope, you unscrew the ring which sits about 1.5" back from the end of the scope (it's hard/impossible to see in the picture, but it's on the large black end towards the holster/bracket). Once you do that, you hold the scope firmly and rotate the whole end to adjust the focus. I kind of figured that had to be it, but mine was stuck pretty firmly, and at the farthest limit of the focal range. It could only be turned one direction, and I was a bit worried about breaking it (maybe there was a bit of glue or roughness on the threads). Once I got it unstuck, turning it was firm, yet easy enough, and it didn't take much to bring it into perfect focus, but for a little while there, I was afraid it was defective. Again, instructions would have been nice. I even went online, and didn't find any instructions on the manufacturer's or other sellers' websites. I attached it to the built-in finderscope dovetail bracket on my Celestron Omni XLT 127 (5") SCT. It does stick out quite a bit, which makes it hard to flip the scope around on the EQ mount (have to go "over the top" when the finderscope is in the way of the legs). I used Jupiter to align it with the scope, and it's made locating objects a million times easier. Although the right angle is not made to rotate, you can unscrew it a good 90-180 degrees (just don't go too far, or it might fall off, as others have warned). I've also found that if you don't over-tighten the adjustment screws, you can rotate the entire finderscope within its holster without it going out of alignment. A rotating right-angle piece would have been nice, but that's probably why this one is 20-30 bucks cheaper than the one made by Orion. The lack of a rotating eyepiece/diagonal and instructions are why I rate this 4 stars instead of 5. For the price, it can't be beat.

Comfortable eye placement
Multi-coated objective and eyepiece, single coated correct-image prism.True to specification 5.6 degrees and 50mm clear aperture.Metal lens cell and tube. Plastic diagonal.Recessed eye lens within the plastic eyepiece shell helps to protect it.Image comes into view at 25mm away with the entire field visible at 12mm. Adequate eye relief.50% center of the image is sharp and high contrast for terrestrial viewing.Comfortable eye placement, no blackout or kidney bean.No instruction technique for focusing, a few turns on the lens cell doesn't defocus noticeably leaving me to wonder where is the best focus.Bought 2 boxes with 1 having the crosshair X not + , doesn't seem to be user adjustable as it is located between the diagonal and fixed eyepiece.I highly recommend this quality product from HighPoint.

Great finder
Haven't found any issues with this finderscope so far (had it ~1 month). Once I got it focused and aligned to my scope it's been smooth sailing. Well, it dewed up once, but EVERYTHING dewed up that night. After that I constructed a longer dew shield to use with this finderscope, and it hasn't dewed since. The dew shield that comes on this scope is way too short to be of much use at keeping dew off. It's heavy, so if you're going to mount it on a dob be aware that you might have some balancing issues if you use this finderscope in conjunction with heavier eyepieces.

Great Little Finder!
I have been an amateur astronomer for 30 years. I have a classic Odyssey1 Coulter 13.1" Newt that I have modified as an astrograph and needed something better than the old Meade refractor finder that I borrowed from an older scope. This little gem arrived and I loved the larger 8X size compared to the 6X30 that I had. For the money you can't go wrong. The first night I had it out the field was bright and clear. This little guy calculated out to be about f/4 for you photo buffs, so it is pretty fast for a little finder, giving you a nice, bright FOV. I love the little spring loaded adjustment knobs that make lining it up a snap. I Highly recommend, even if you're old to the hobby like me!

This is just what I needed! The finder is well-made, the optics surprisingly good, and the right angle diagonal keeps me from cranking my neck when using the finder. I bought this to replace the red dot, straight-through finder that came with the telescope, and what a relief it is! Highly recommended!
