Super well made
I have a very large boa and was afraid that any hook I used wouldn't be able to handle her, but this hook is stronger than I am. It picks her up without a problem, even though I have trouble getting her all the way off the ground just because she's so heavy on the end of it. She's a hearty 8-9 ft long and quite girthy. Very impressed. Plus it's beautifully manufactured, and the hook tip is very smooth and doesn't bother my boa at all. Well worth the price.

10 Stars! Buy it!
Bought this for my spousal unit to look for snakes under vines in the garden before putting her hands in there, (I kinda like her a little bit). She LOVES it!!!!! I’ve been a Tradesman for many years - Docs Craftsmanship is absolutely impeccable - lightweight, attention to detail, balanced, and just overall good looking! The handwritten ‘thank you’ on the tag went very far with me. I’ll be getting more for family and friends. Thanks Doc I just picked up two more for family - they love this hook! This works so well in the garden to avoid snakes under vines. We also use it as a pseudo walking stick.

Solid hook
This is my first snake hook, so nothing to compare to, but I’ve got no complaints thus far. Lightweight yet sturdy, comfortable in the hand, versatile, and good lookin too. *update: 14 months later, and I’m still very happy with my purchase. This hook has taken a beating, and I’ve used it well beyond its means (as an ad hoc walking stick on long snake hunts, and have admittedly put too much weight on it when I’m tired or traversing rough terrain… have even used it to hook roots to lightly pull myself up steep hills from time to time). After everything I’ve put it through it has held up phenomenally and still looks good. I’m considering ordering a couple extra, since manufacturers go in & out of business too often these days, so that if I lose or break this one I’ve got a backup

It holds up to abuse
I keep this in the back seat of my car to get snakes off the road safely. I have been in a situation where I cant find a stick or anything sturdy to move a copperhead off the road so I decided to get a snake hook so I wouldn't be tempted to free handle a copperhead. This particular hook is great because it can stand up to the abuse of being kept in my hot car and having my dogs step on it every day. I unfortunately haven't had a chance to use it with any snakes yet and I doubt very much that I will be handling many venomous snakes anytime soon with a pandemic but I like having the right tool in case a rattlesnake is basking on the road and I need to get by. Also about once a year I get a call to move some "poisonous" snake from a friends barn and while it has never actually been a dangerous snake that required special tools I know the day will come and this snake hook will do the job perfectly. It is a great tool at a great value and if you are the person everyone knows as the reptile person then I think this is a good investment.

Love These Hooks!
I've used the 33 inch version for years and have loved it like no other. I decided to buy my friends a hook and went with the 33 inch because I knew it would meet all of their needs, and added a 43 inch for myself. I'm very happy with both, they feel so nice in the hand, balanced, lightweight but sturdy. I love the design and have never seen them bend. Honestly I only use DocSeward hooks at this point, my others got shelved when I got my first one. You can't go wrong with either length, both are indispensable tools for a dedicated keeper or herper.

Excellent Hook!
After misplacing my previous hook in a move, I sorely needed a new one. Doc came to the rescue with this amazing hook! Perfect for fieldwork with the local desert herps as well as a must-have tool for the at-home collection's notorious biters. Light yet sturdy and nicely balanced, this wonderful hook is more than strong enough to wrangle some of my larger irritable boas with ease, and I trust its sturdiness to manipulate the largest rattler. It's not excessively long, and those dealing with very large hots may want something a little bit longer, or to use tongs with a closing jaw. This hook, however is perfect for most needs in a mid-sized or smaller range. 10/10, definitely recommend.

Highly recommend
A little pricey but well worth it. I’ve used it to move dozens of venomous snakes. Strong, weatherproof, and safe for snakes.

Once again, it pays to buy high quality tools
This is a really well-made snake hook. It’s light, well-balanced, and shows a nice attention to detail, right down to the copper ferrule and the subtly eased edges and points of the hook. It’s sharp enough to get under a snake, but not sharp enough to inadvertently cut or puncture the snake. The golf club grip is just right. Plenty of room for two hands, if needed, and fits the hand nicely. I’m glad Doc went with stainless over aluminum for the hook - it’s less brittle, and much more durable. Plus the finish is much nicer. This hook is for use in the yard, although I could see carrying it if I’m going into the nearby woods during snake season. I wish I’d had it back in the day when I went on collecting trips during my undergraduate years studying biology. But we have a fair number of snakes around here, so I expect it will get plenty of use. There are cheaper hooks out there, but I bought this one because of the reasons mentioned above. Hard to tell from a written description and a few pictures; it turned out to be even better when I had it in my hands. Very well worth the money, in my opinion.
