Hello 2% is the accuracy of the bimetal rolled coil, certified against calibrated traceable independantly certified test equipment. These are just measuring the surface temperature of the pipe, not the actual water temperature in the pipe, to do that you would need to insert a probe into the pipe. The actual reading will vary depending on pipe thickness and surrounding ambient temperatures. Kind regards Ian
