The closest to glamping you can get while roughing it
Wonderful!!! Confession though: So far we haven't used for an entire night - we were supposed to go camping last week, but then the baby got sick. So sad. BUT I will update when we can with them next. That being said - I still have a lot of initial impressions. We ordered 2 mats and I opened them right away for two reasons: 1) To see if they would actually inflate and make sure that weren't defective (they worked, no defects) and 2) Directions day to let them inflate over night the first time and that, thereafter, they should inflate quickly. After they inflated, I laid on them for over a 2 hours (watching t.v.). Initial impression? COMFORTABLE! I must admit that I had been dubious - these are only about 3 inches and I've used 3 inch blue foam mats before and those weren't more comfortable than an air mattress. But they fold huge. Air mattresses are somewhat comfortable for the first hour - but then as you lose air throughout the night (especially if there is a big temperature change) - my hips always wind up on the ground or at least significantly lower than my shoulders as my bottom weight displaces the air at lot more than my top half. So I looked at this little 3 inch thick thing and wondered if it would just be a mix of the things I didn't like in the other sleeping options. After trying it - nope! Since there is less air and more foam than an air mattress - my hips can not sink significantly lower than my top half. I even opened the valves up for a bit too let lots more air out (to pretend there was a hole or a big temperature change that causes the air to condense) - and my hips just rested nicely on the foam that is a softer foam than the thick blue may ones - very tolerable (at least for the 30 minutes that I tried this) unlike if your air mattress develops a hole in the middle of no where. I am a side sleeper and my hips never hurt on these. I actually let air out of mine to make it less firm! Being firm wasn't uncomfortable, just more comfortable for me with some air out. These fold big. I added pictures, one with a water bottle to show size comparison. The mat that is folded a little smaller I rolled twice - I rolled out with the valves open, closed the valves, opened it and began re-rolling it - using my knees and body weight to push air forward, them when it was 3/4th rolled, I opened the valves again ago that I could finish rolling and push out more air. Even though the following benefit had nothing to do with its function, I LOVE it. All tents and sleeping bags that come in bags that you will almost NEVER get the item back into. These mats come in a bag that has plenty of room to spare - so my big re-roll fit into easily! It also came with velcro straps to wrap around the roll (see pictures). I love that the company was basically "honest" by providing the big bags because they know we can never roll it as small as the factory. Although these fold big, that is not a set back for me, as we don't backpack and rarely camp in places where we can't be parked within at least a quarter mile of our campsite. If you're a backpacker, stay away from these - if you wish you could be a glamper but don't have the funds for a camper-mobile or pop-up tent, these mats are the next best thing. No more tough foam mats or bouncy, leaky air mats for me!

THING IS MAGICAL!
I got this new fangled air mattress to replace a traditional blow-up Coleman mattress that is used for camping and guest accommodations. I was able to test out this magical little mat at a friend's house before taking it out camping for it's maiden voyage. I let it inflate for roughly 8 hours with a houseful of onlookers eager to see how it faired. It does indeed inflate all by itself! Since I am plus sized (5'5" 260),I added 2 puffs of air and prepared for sleep. I am a side-sleeper and all I can say is WOW! This is a fantastic product! It's very large-both length- and width-wise, it's plush and I never "bottomed out". I woke up refreshed and with a distinct and welcome lack of discomfort that I usually faced with my previous mattress. It also did not make me sweat to death! Putting this away was also a pleasantly quick affair...the set up and packing away saved at least 15-20 minutes and tons of space is also regained by the compact footprint of this mattress. I will be buying more of these!

Very supportive, I don't "bottom out" when rolling onto my side, not hard to roll up
I received this a week or two before a camping trip. I had been having more and more trouble with "bottoming out" when I rolled on my side or moved around in my sleep, just having an elbow, or hand, or my butt if I sat up, sinking down to the ground. I followed the directions, opened the valves, and left them open overnight to inflate. Since I have a cat, I left the mattress propped vertically against a wall, lest it fall victim to the cat kneading a new Cat Bed For Her. It inflated quite well all on its own, and I closed the valves, laid it down, and stretched out on it. I found it didn't give enough, so I opened the valves very briefly while lying on it, to deflate it a bit. Then I closed the valves and left it for over a week, and at the end of that time, it was still at the same firmness at which I left it. To roll it up for the camping trip, I opened the valves and started rolling it from the base. However, I didn't try to push all the air out, which would have been really hard. Instead, I did a quick and dirty roll-up, kneeling on it with my knees and rolling with my hands at the sides of the mat. When I got it rolled up loosely, I closed the valves, unrolled it, and re-rolled it tightly. When it was mostly rolled, a lot of excess air had been forced to the top/pillow area of the mattress, and I kept the pressure on the rolled up part with my knees, while opening both valves. Then I slowly rolled it the last foot, and then closed the valves again. I think keeping pressure with the knees is a key part of this process, so you're not trying to keep press down with only your hands, and also roll at the same time. For camping, I had the most comfortable night's sleep I've had in a long time, was able to move, roll on either side or sleep on my back, all very comfortably. I will post back if it starts leaking or has other problems, but right now, I am very pleased with this purchase.

4 Years and Counting, Still Great
I'm an avid camper and I've purchased this twice. The first for myself in 2021 and the second time a few months ago for a friend. My original is still going strong after 4 years. It's amazing to never have to worry about bringing an air pump. I would say it inflates 3/4 on its own and I just blow into myself for the last little bit which doesn't take long at all. It's reversible one way valve makes it a dream inflate AND to roll back up because you don't have to worry about air getting out or back in. Size wise i's pretty compact rolled up if you're a car camper specifically. The sleeve it comes in is durable and makes transport very easy. I regularly take it when visiting friends or family who don't have a guest room. Comfort wise it's great. I have a bad back so for years I would expect to wake up in pain on a camping trip. It's FAR better than a normal air matress you would get at a big box store. I will say, as a bigger person (215lbs) the mattress isn't quite as supportive. Friends that are smaller than me who have borrowed it have said it's very comfortable. For someone my size? It could benefit from a little more padding. For the last two years I've topped it with cheap rollable thin mattress topper I fold over itself from Walmart and it's perfectly comfortable. I would say keep in mind your own size when considering the purchase related to comfort but I think it's still a very worthwhile purchase if you're on the bigger end. It's still considerably more comfortable than your standard air mattress.

Perfect - As Good As Best Mattress
I can't say enough good about this, I have camped on blow up pads and foam pads for 55 years, its the first time I have ever really been not only comfortable, its as good as the outstanding Posturpeidc Mattress at home (it might be better, you can tune it!) I slept on this for 3 weeks straight, some camping, some staying at my mom's place, slept like I was 20 again. My body does not touch down on a hard spot, perfect support and adjust a bit as needed with blowing into the tube (6 puffs maybe and I am no light weight) Be nice to get the 3 inch slightly narrower but for what it returns its worth it, just adjust a bit in the tent (alone so I don't need wider) Easy to let self inflate and then blow in a bit more air to suit my body and someone under 220 lbs might well not need any adjustment. I am bony despite my bulk. Easy to deflate and roll up, I won't ever go camping without it. No, its not a real back pack solution due to the bulk (not bad, 2 inch might work but I won't risk it for what I do) If backpacking I would try the 2 inch and figure out a way to do it, its not heavy and its durable.

Amazing sleep
Absolutely amazing sleep pad! I have an ultra lightweight pad for backpacking use, but if I donโt have to go far from my car to set up camp, this will be my new go to. It is almost as good as sleeping on a nice, memory foam bed! Iโm so impressed by this product, my biggest gripe is that it is not compact. I almost didnโt order it due to its fold up size, but I thought I should see it in person. So glad I did, I was able to fold it in half long ways, then roll it up the bottom up. Now it is only a bit over a foot high and about 9โ-10โ in diameter, and the Velcro straps still fit. You just need to be patient and play with the valves. Fold it in quarters, sit on it and let as much air out as possible. Close the valves. Fold it in half long ways and roll it up half way (I use my knees to push down on the roll while Iโm rolling), re open the valves to let more air out then keep rolling. Then close the valves, unroll it and roll it again to get the last bit of air out. Now itโs almost half the size! I know it sound tedious, but itโs worth it to get it more compact for me. Using the suggested method I was only able to get it to 30โ high and 8โ in diameter. Obviously you canโt change the weight so itโs still too heavy to take on a backpacking trip, but if you are at a camp site with parking spots, need an extra guest bed or just wanna take a nap on the floor, this pad for you!

Two thumbs up...HIGHLY recommend!
I spent A LOT time reading reviews and comparing self- inflating sleep pads. Let me tell ya, I'm so happy I chose this one! The description of this pad is 100% true. It form fits to your body, just let it inflate (add a couple breathes if you want, not needed though). I like to lay on it, reach back, and let a little bit of air out until it's perfect for me. I don't feel the ground, it's comfortable for back, tummy or side sleeping. The material is very cozy, when I'm laying on the pad I REALLY don't want to get up. I bought two of these 3 inch thick pads and as measured they are 3 inches thick. I'm not heavy or large, but I really wanted a sleep pad where I could spawl out and definitely not feel the ground. Two pads side by side, are perfect for two adults...and a small kid who may sneak next to you while camping. I can slip on a queen size fitted sheet to "connect" the two pads as well. My favorite color is turquoise, so I'm very happy with the appearance. The pillow part is only a half inch larger than the rest of the pad, it works fine, but I love to bring my fav pillow along camping for that at home feel. These pads truly have no nasty chemical smell...what huge a plus! The bag to store them in is slightly oversized, there are Velcro straps to wrap the deflated pad, no stuffing it back in, yes! I am soooooo done using air mattresses; waking up on the cold ground, all the bouncy movement, and needing a pump...this mamma is never looking back. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend these...I like to sleep comfortably (I'm picky) at home and while camping and this pad is something I really look forward to laying on after a long day hiking. My husband fell asleep on his right away (on our living room floor) the first day we got it, I didn't even have the twist knobs sealed for him at the time. He totally zonked out, lol. Two thumbs up! EDIT: 4 years later 2020, they still work great!

Very bad valve cap(s) on an otherwise good sleeping pad
UPDATE: 2019-09-07 I ordered 2 more (totaling 4) and while setting up one of the two new pads, the valve came OUT of the pad!! If only the valves would seal, without having to torque on them so much, these pads would be perfect. However, I am really, really disappointed by the fact that the valves - which kind of play a role in making this an "air" pad - are so poorly designed. sigh. Returning the bad-valved (i.e. externalized valve) pad and hoping the others hold it together... not holding my breath, though. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought 2 pads and stacked them, to make an extra-cushy "guest bed". They make a "firm bed" but it is comfy... when the pads stay inflated. After someone slept on it, I noticed the two pads were left "dented/flattened", where my guest's upper torso laid on the pads and the pads never re-inflated; even an hour after my guest got up off the pads. That's when I noticed that the valves, on both pads, would not seal (enough) to prevent the air from bleeding out (overnight, with a person sleeping on it). So, I unscrewed the valves, opening them completely, to let the pads fill up again (they did). Then, I tightened the valves "extra, extra tight", which did prevent the air from bleeding out over the next several days of use. Cool (for the time being). Thinking I had the problem resolved, I ordered 2 more sleeping pads (they're still on their way) then I needed to use the pads that I already had, a second time. This time, however, I had a new problem: one of the 2 valves, on one of the 2 pads I used, would not screw down and tighten, at all! The plastic threads of the cap were apparently stripped. This explains why each sleeping pad come with a spare cap... I am guessing this is part of the "design" under "normal use". sigh. I'm not a big, strong dude... just an average woman, with an average grip. I replaced the cap (completely damaging the original cap, see picture) and tightened the new cap down, tightly (since I now know that the pads will bleed, if I do not do this). Unfortunately, that means I'm "screwed" (pun intended), should the next/newest cap get stripped out... which I am guessing is quite possible. Other than the fact that the pads are NOT always likely to stay inflated, under normal use, the pads are comfortable to use (if you like a firm mattress). I put 4 stars, for sleep quality and comfort, only because I prefer a softer bed, which is highly subjective. People with bad backs, however, love the firmer sleeping arrangement! In short, "they" need to fix the design and make a better-sealing valve, that won't strip out under normal use.

Heavyweight Mattress Keeps You Off The Ground in Comfort!
Absolutely AMAZING comfort. Very thick and robust. This camping pad is NOT for a minimalist. It is heavy and large when rolled up! But the comfort outweighs the issue with the size and weight! I always had what i considered to be the perfect all around pad The Equalizer by Basic Designs. Which was probably the best camping pad made in the early 90's, in my opinion. It was compact enough to always attach to your bag and light weight enough to go anywhere, as well as it had individual separated air pockets for different area's of your back. PERFECT in my opinion. But alas they don't make it anymore. So I started searching for a replacement when it went for a dump. I found this. Lightspeed Outdoors, which is perfect for car camping, or short hikes in. Would I want to carry this down a trail for more than 6 miles. NO... But at my age, I'm only going to canoe in or drive in on a 4 wheeler or drive in and then short hike in. I'm not running down trails with it for a day hike. If that were the case this pad would be too heavy for that. But it is a great pad for comfort. The material is nice. The R value I'm not sure of yet as I haven't used it in cold enough weather at this time of year to test it. But after I do, I'll update my review. But for now the R value seems like a proper rating. I layed on it and didn't want to get up, it is that comfortable. Probably more comfortable than my home mattress. I'm not a light weight. I'm 6'2, 247 lbs and this suited my height and weight easily. The only thing I could see improved a bit, is the pillow end could be a bit higher, and the complete design could go like the old "The Equalizer" with individual pockets for area's of your back. That is the only improvements I could see making on this mattress. That being said, I knew what I was ordering and received what I expected. It is a good mat, exactly what they advertised it was. Just wasn't expecting it to be as large and heavy rolled up, is all. Functionality tho is 5 star performance!

Defectice Product, Bad Service, Bad Experience
The air valve broke after a few uses and it has taken over two weeks of emailing just to have a replacement part sent. I was also told that they will not ship to Canada for a replacement pad if it is deemed defective. Utterly pathetic service. If you get a good pad, you'll be fine. If you get a defective pad like myself, you have wasted $120. The worst part; this pad is perfect in every other way.
