Q: Does anyone have expereince and know the max size beaker this can fit? 100ml, 150ml, 250ml, or 400ml?

The width of the fully opened prongs is about 9.4 cm, so it should fit up to 400 ml and possibly even 600 ml Pyrex beaker.

Q: How long is it? How short can it be adjusted to?

It is a fixed length so you will need to adjust your set up. Measure from the plate w/flat screw head to the base of the 3 prongs, there is also a fine ajustment flange screw on the shaft between the 2 points you measured from to start . Hope it helps. Steve

Q: How far from the vertical rod is the gripping point? In other words, if grasping a test tube, what is the clearance between it and the vertical rod?

For a test tube and a vertical rod each having a diameter of about 5/8 inch (1.6 cm), the clearance will be approximately 5.4 inches (13.7 cm).
