I got the lemon
I was excited to receive this reel as I’ve had great luck with other Quantum models. I like the long list of features it has as well as the colour scheme.After unboxing and threading in the handle, the reel cranked one half turn, bound up and that was it. Released the anti-reverse lever and same thing, half turn in reverse and it bound up. I’m returning it and trying out an Okuma Helios.This was my first bad experience with a fishing reel right out of the box. That said, I would not hesitate to buy another Quantum product, rod or reel, in the future.

1st. One Arrived Defective
1st. one arrived defective. It would only spin 1-3/4 turns before stopping/jamming.Looking forward to using the replacement on Erie.Update:The replacement reel I received was perfect. I, 100%, agree with the positive reviews of the S3 Energy 30.I caught some pretty nice walleye on Erie this year. I just didn't catch enough. Although, it wasn't my Quantum's fault. I'm ordering another one. Very nice spinning reel. Smooth drag and easily adjustable on the fly.I strung my new Quantum with Truscend's X8 18lb. braid (I think they're calling it 15lb. now - Still 0.14mm) with a 15lb. Sufix fluorocarbon leader. It's amazing. Great casts.
