Super efficient cat litter bin 😀
Brilliant product. I live in a top floor flat so had to bag up soiled cat litter and put it in my bin. This wasn’t ideal so I purchased this to help eliminate odours. I have never looked back. Super easy to use cassette system, just pull what you need and knot the end and you’re good to go! I now only have to go to the bin weekly when I empty the bag. When it’s full, Just pull and use the built in scissor/blade device to cut off and knot the ends and it’s good to bin. Zero smell and very compact so it’ll fit into a small space. Ideal for indoor cats and apartment living 😀 It’s got a handle so you can take it to your litter tray for easy removal of soiled litter. It’s very light weight too which makes things easier. I would definitely recommend this cat waste bin.

Well worth it!
Previous to buying the Litter Genie, I was using a bucket with a lid which was designed for soaking reusable nappies, with a thick bin liner & dog poop bags, as I live in an upstairs flat & have mobility issues, so I can't just bound down the stairs everything Josie does her business. Dog poop bags, regardless of brand, aren't designed to store waste in the home, so they don't keep the smell in particularly well. The bucket, when full, was really heavy too & it was a lot for someone with a degenerative spinal condition to carry downstairs. I kept questioning whether or not to get a Litter Genie, as some of the reviews are quite mixed. If you're in the same position as I was, don't JUST read the reviews on here, Google reviews elsewhere & look it up on YouTube. After seeing a video on YouTube, I decided to buy one finally. Contrary to some reviews, it arrived in one piece...sort of. Nothing was actually broken, but the bottom is a separate section & in the process of delivery, it had popped off. It clicked back into place fairly easily though. The instructions have minimal reading, as they provide illustrations on how to set it up & reset it when emptying the full liner. Thanks to the video I watched on YouTube, I didn't need the instructions though. It comes with one cassette/insert. If you're planning to buy off-brand refills, DO NOT THROW IT AWAY when it's empty. You will need the hard plastic cassette to put the refills in. I think I've had it just over a week now. And it's definitely a game changer! So much so that I have thrown away the bucket setup I was previously using. I've found that when tying the knots in the liner, it helps to tightly twist the liner before tying it. It makes a much tighter, more secure knot which you can tie closer to the edge, which cuts down on wasted liner. I've emptied it once so far - I only have one cat. I use ultra clumping litter in the tray. I no longer dread scooping the tray. In fact, I scoop it more now than before, as I don't have to deal with holding dog poop bags & a stinky nappy bucket. My cat Josie seems to appreciate the increase in scooping too, as she's using the tray more than before. Before the Litter Genie, I was scooping 1-2 times a day. Now I scoop almost every time she uses her tray. The aperture in the lid is a little bit narrow for my litter scoop - I'm still using the one that came with her tray, as my current setup cannot accommodate the Litter Genie scoop attachment on the side (I have the litter tray etc in my bathroom, which is less than 4m sqr). Sometimes used litter ends up on the plastic surrounding the hole in which you drop the litter, but it's easily cleaned up by just running a baby wipe around it & dropping that in the hole too. Nowhere in the instructions does it clearly state that you need to pull the trap door out to open the lid to remove the full liner & reset it. I feel like this should be clearer, as using brute force could damage the unit. I am so glad that I finally bought this. The full liner is much more manageable for me to carry downstairs to the bin. There has been ZERO smell from it too - though I noticed that there is space inside the lid to stick a small air freshener if you're hyper sensitive to smells. I would 100% recommend this product!

With a design tweak to save on refill cassettes it's a great device worth the money!
What a great piece of kit. I actually had to read the instructions to put it together but it's sturdy and nice enough to look at and functions really well to lock the smell of used cat litter away. I have been using a nappy bin of similar function for years to hold used cat litter (and used cat pouches that stink in summer and attract flies if left in a normal bin for more than 9 seconds!) and had a roll of the plastic wrap that goes in the cassettes so it was always really cheap rather than buying more cassettes. Figuring I could do the same again when I saw this, I was disappointed (and with begrudging respect for their enforced consumer loyalty design) to find that these cassettes are enclosed and square to fit a specific slot which makes sure they can't be refilled with more plastic, which of course makes sense for profit but like a lot of the reviews have said who wants to spend 11 quid a time for the privilege of plastic wrapped cat wee? So a quick think and a google and I found my solution. All you need to do is put a normal carrier bag in the bottom of the bucket, set up the cassette as normal but then when you are supposed to tie a knot in the bag, use a clip instead to keep it closed and rest this end of the plastic inside the carrier. You don't actually need the carrier in there, you could just fetch one when it needs emptying, but I reckon it's just that bit safer for emptying later as the end is already safe in the carrier. When you come to empty it, instead of sealing and cutting etc, just unclip the end bag and let it all in to the carrier bag and throw that away, and reclip closed. Tada - None of the plastic used from the cassette and you still get all the pleasure of the smell being locked away. I would imagine after a few (likely more than a few with the "worlds best" cat litter I use that's really dry and clumped when used) times of doing that it might get a bit manky on the inside of the plasic and then I'll do the chopping bit to have fresh plastic from the cassette (what a treat!) But it'll mean the cassette lasting 50 times longer and it'll still function exactly as it was designed except the emptying is a little bit more involved with letting it out in to the carrier bag... But that's fine by me to save on the cassettes. Or just call it looking after the environment ...except for the wrapping degradable cat litter in plastic to then last eternity in a land fill of course............ I realise I'm not exactly supporting the designers/profiteers of a product I love by my attempt at not buying refills as obviously the sales tactic is to sell it at a "why not try it?" price and then make the real money on refills.... But £11 a pop really is a bit much for a good amount of people (and that's from a person that happily spends on her cat!) and I definitely wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for the work around no matter how much more pleasant it makes the cat litter experience! If the cassettes weren't literally more than half the cost of the bin, I'd buy them for the tiny bit of extra convenience of using it as designed and support the company. So yeah, it's a really great solution for cat litter after a dodgy tweak, and I'm really happy with it! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with a cat litter or whatever other smelly stuff!

Pricey but worthwhile (with caveats)
[EDITED to remove 1 star, see comments at the end] At first I thought, 30 quid for a bin for the cat?! That's bonkers! And then I realized, it's actually for ME, and oh boy, is it well worth it! I live in a small flat in central London. I don't want to have cat fecal matter in my kitchen bin under the sink (eeew) nor do I want to go to the 'big bins' outside every single day. Especially not in this spectacular British winter. The design isn't perfect -- sometimes litter gets stuck in the 'rim' of the plastic bag refill, sometimes when the load is too light, it doesn't fall into the bag easily and I've accidentally done a 'poo guillotine' when I close the 'trap door'. But overall, once you get the hang of it, it works very well. No smells, lots of capacity, and very ingenious indeed. It is overpriced for what it is (it's a bin!) but from a 'cost per use' perspective, I have no complaints for the convenience it offers. EDIT!: Well, right after I wrote a glowing review, I had a rude shock that, when the bag ran out, there was no catch mechanism nor warning. The open end of the bag simply fell down into the bin. My cat sitter didn't notice and neither did I until I wondered why the 'guillotine' (pull out flap) was in direct contact with the soiled litter. Essentially this meant that litter was being thrown directly into the bin, not into the bag! Very poor design of the cartridge and disappointing that the starter cartridge ran out so quickly, as I've only used it for 3 weeks. Thankfully Amazon as next day delivery on Prime, and I've had to order more. Lesson learnt to stock up... Overall I am still glad to have the LitterLocker instead of having to go out to the big bins multiple times a day. I will line the LitterLocker with a trash bag just to be safe in future. For how pricey the cartridges is, Litter Genie should really improve the design!

Don’t know what I’d do without it!!
Very useful for cat owners. It keeps litter waste contained and really helps reduce smells. Easy to use and makes cleaning the litter tray much more convenient. Saved my life!!

Very Good Litter Locker
I have two litter lockers - the original which takes rectangular refills (expensive) and this that takes the bags. Although more expensive wish I had bought this instead of white original. In my opinion far better quality, the bags are less expensive and work very well, far less wastage and easy to use. Very pleased with it.

not worth the money, at all.
- Scoop is bigger than the hole of bin, so litter gets all over the top. It’s very messy. - once bag is half full, it essentially closes itself. So you’re wasting a LOT of liner. - The liners are flimsy, they rip VERY easily. - Used it without closing the slat and it made no difference to smell. So it’s no better at keeping in smell than a regular bin with a lid. - put new liners in and it was faulty. So unusable. and for the price of the liners, that’s unacceptable. One positive: it’s nice not having to take it out to trash every day… but that’s not unique to this item. Frankly… I feel a bit robbed. I’m going to just find a good quality kitchen bin instead.

The best of many tried
This litter disposal has completely changed my litter box cleaning routine, making it easier and much more hygienic. If you’re a cat owner tired of dealing with daily trips to the trash, this product is a lifesaver. Pros: 1. Odour Control: The biggest benefit is the odor control. It has a multi-layer bag system that locks in odors effectively, so my home stays fresh even with multiple cats. The lid and clamp system seal it all in, keeping smells out of the room. 2. Convenience: The design is similar to a diaper pail but made for cat litter. You just scoop the litter, drop it in, and pull the handle to seal the bag inside. It holds up to two weeks’ worth of litter for one cat, meaning fewer trips to the trash. 3. Compact Design: It’s compact enough to fit right beside the litter box and doesn’t take up much room. The sleek, neutral design blends in, so it doesn’t look out of place. 4. Refillable Bags: The Litter Genie refill bags last a good amount of time, especially if you have one or two cats. They’re easy to replace, and I love that they’re designed to contain odors effectively. Cons: • Refill Costs: The refill bags work great, but they can add up in cost. I’ve found that buying them in bulk or looking for deals makes it a bit more affordable. • Capacity for Multiple Cats: While it works well for two cats, I do have to empty it a bit more frequently than advertised, especially since both of mine are indoor cats. Bottom Line: thisis a game-changer for anyone looking to cut down on litter box maintenance time and keep odors under control. It’s convenient, keeps my home smelling fresh, and has made managing cat litter much more pleasant. Highly recommend!
