If you are a teacher or trainee teacher then you NEED TO BUY THIS BOOK. It provides a wealth of research-backed knowledge in a holistic set of areas, including instructional practice, behaviour management and student motivation. Lovell writes in a way that is analytic; for him, words hook onto reality and teaching, like the sciences, is one that is grounded in reality and what the evidence says. Lovell’s writing style and way of thinking is superb; you really get the sense that he is genuinely concerned with what works in teaching and wants to help others avoid being misled by bogus claims in education theory. I would recommend this to any practicing teacher who has less than an hour a day to spend on anything outside of teaching - because you can easily spend an hour or less per day going through this book alongside a pen and a notepad and implementing the ideas into your classroom. Would highly recommend!

Doesn’t matter if you’re primary or secondary - this book will challenge and inspire you. It’s full of concrete examples and easy to execute strategies which will lead to improved outcomes.

Excellent book, but DO NOT buy the kindle version, all the images are very low resolution and impossible to read.
