XUNADA 58mm Espresso Dosing Funnel, Precision Stainless Steel Coffee Dosing Ring, Works with 58mm Portafilters

This solid looking, heavy, tapered collar sits on top of my VST portafilter baskets and its weight holds it in place whilst I stir and stab my ground coffee. As a practitioner of the Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) this device makes the use of a WDT device to evenly distribute ground coffee a lot quicker, easier and less messy. WDT has reduced the evidence of visible channelling in my espresso extraction (as observed using a naked portafilter) This has lead to better tasting results. I don't grind into my basket directly so it fits in with my workflow from use one. Its never going to wear out or break either.

Item itself is 184grams so a nicely weigthty beast. As their pictures show accurately it sits on the "outside" of the portafilter basket. I am able to leave this in place, WDT then tamp through using my VST, 58.4mm, basket and 58.55mm Lelit tamper. Should have no issues tamping through with any 58mm E61 setup. Finish is superb, smooth, feels and looks top quality. The presentation of it is also very nice would make a lovely present for a coffee enthusiast. At £18.99 at time of purchase it's really worth it. Highly recommended

This is a quality heavy well made item but… it is loose on my Gaggia classic portafilter with IMs basket plus it cannot be used with a Eureka manuala grinder as it blocks the on/off button when placed under grinds chute

A really solid dosing ring and exactly what I was looking for. It’s made of polished stainless steel so it’s heavy and stays put unlike the cheaper aluminium ones. And it won’t tarnish. The weight means it sits solidly on top of a E61 portafilter even without magnets. It ticks the following two boxes for me: a) no inner lip so I can use a WDT to spread the grinds evenly in the entire basket and b) I can tamp straight through the ring. Nice little box too for a gift. The only minor improvement might be the addition of two or three tiny neodynium magnets to the underside, but then I’d expect to pay a higher price in that case.

Could do with being a little heavier, but still good.
