The One and Only
These pucks don't sit as high in the shaving bowl as the gel-like ones used to. On the other hand, the branding has not yet worn away on this one after several uses, which tells me it will last a good while. Lying low in the bowl also prevents the lather from overflowing. All in all, it's a great shaving soap.

good bulk purchase deal for a very good soap
I've never seen this stuff for sale in a shop, where I could have a smell and check the product out, so trying Col Conks is a little trial and error. For me personally, the lime is my favorite. And this was the easiest and cheapest way to basically get a years supply.Besides the smell, what I like:It's a soap, it's solid, I can take it on planes. Personal, but the whole liquids, pastes, creams in airports thing is a pain. It's a smooth shave. I don't have a particularly heavy beard, but I do have crappy skin, So rashes and ingrown hairs can be a problem. I think it's a high glycerin content that helps make this a smooth shave. While travelling without soap, I bought some soap from CVS Pharmacy, I can't recall the brand, but it was dreadful. Razor jumped, scraped and burnt, and it really bought home how good the Col Conk branded stuff is.It lathers reasonably easily. Personal preference, but I don't like a really thick lather, and I whip mine up in a plastic cup I stole from the Eurostar train service in Europe, and I can manage the lather as thickly as I personally want.Col Conks is my preferred while travelling. At home, I sometimes use it, or the shaving cream from teh bodyshop. (which also needs whipping up).

Best by far
I have tried many shaving soaps and creams to use with my multi blade razor. All of the creams I have tried were too thick and clogged the razor. The soaps have been too thin to provide protection. Col Conk’s soap is the best I have found to shave with.

I like these these a lot.
These smell fantastic. Not overpowering, but a nice presence. You will not smell like lime all through the day which is ideal for me (will not interfere with my cologne choice). It's a relaxing smell that I don't have any associations with besides just the shaving (does not smell like other sources of lime, like boat drinks or foods). The lather is good enough to use like anything else. The size of the soaps is a bit bigger than what I'm used to, and I appreciate that (still fits neatly in my cup). This specific listing seems to have the best price per soap.I'm very pleased with these, and I will buy again. I'm curious what the other scents are like, and perhaps one day I will try them as well (if they're half as good as these, they'd be great).

Soap has changed in 2023
Bought and loved this soap for years. My latest order in summer of 2023 was different than all my previous orders. The soap has a completely different texture, and I feel like the quantity is significantly less. I will definitely be looking for new soap for my next order. I would disregard any review you read of this soap from before 2023, because it no longer represents the product being sold.

I hate shaving!!!!
This is a product that I keep in my shaving soap regimen. I rotate it with Proraso, Geo. F Trumper's Violet, Taylor of Bond St. Grapefruit, and La Toja. It keeps shaving as interesting and pleasant as possible. The Col. Conk is a basic glycerin based soap and it smells nice, but not overwhelming. It gives a good lather.I drop a block in one of my shaving cups and pop in the microwave for a few seconds. I melts and forms to the cup. It is reasonably slick and I get a fairly smooth shave with it.I generally lather up. Quickly run over my face with a Panasonic wet/dry shaver. Hit the close places with a the trimmer of a Gillette Fusion. Shave under my nose and my chin with the multi blade of the Fusion. The finish up the rest of my face with a Merkur Mergress XL adjustable razor. Use either Merkur or Crystal blades. (I am not obsessive/compulsive!) More information than you needed, but if your just starting our wet shaving, maybe it will help.

Five stars for slick performance, great protection, and outstanding value!
I pulled out the Col. Conk's Lime soap this morning. I paired it with a vintage Gillette Tech safety razor and Gillette Silver Blue blade.I had an absolutely WONDERFUL shave! The lather created was thick and rich and VERY slick! My shave was free of nicks or cuts. Absolutely zero irritation!I do believe, though, that the key to generating all that lather was due to using a good synthetic shaving brush. I've found that synthetic brushes perform much better than natural hair brushes when using a hard soap like Col. Conk's.The lime scent is exactly what you expect. A nice citrus lime scent. It wakes you up and gets the senses going.:)This was my last puck, so I have to order more!:)Five stars for slick performance, great protection, and outstanding value!

Convinced me to buy a REAL razor
The Colonel has a light scent, as in practically none at all. It does however lather up quite nicely and lubricates my face like all get out. I bought this and a SimplyBeautiful Basic 100% Pure Badger Shaving Brush along with a soap bowl because I was tired of getting less than a dozen shaves out of a can. I will never go back, it was truly an eye opening experience. My very first shave with it was with a cheap store brand generic one use single blade disposable and it felt like I was shaving with a Mach3, just as comfortable and just as close. It was so comfortable I began to wonder what it would be like with a quality DE razor and blade so I bought an Edwin Jagger DE89 and a blade assortment, it turned out to be nothing short of sublime. I went from shaving once or twice a week to almost daily and actually look forward to it instead of dreading it.
