Jinny Beyer's Color Confidence For Quilters

A book promoting her fabrics.
Was quite disappointing, as it was nothing new from her previous books. It boils down to this: when using a patterned fabric, pick colors from that fabric to coordinate. The book heavily showcases her line of fabrics to do so.

Color theory Demistified
I have a degree in fine arts and have had courses in color theory so when I started quilting, I was fairly confident about my color selections. I saw a few of Jinny Beyer's quilts and was quite impressed with her use of color; so when I saw this book at our local library I checked it out. After looking through it; I knew I had to have this book. Never have I seen color theory so well explained; and the exersizes make it so clear. I've learned a lot from this book---wish I had had it while I was in collage.Anyone who works with colors, not just quilters, could learn a lot from this book. I highly recommend it.

Color Confidence Book by Jinny Beyer
I have reviewed this book front to back and must say I'm not really excited about it. I'm a big fan of Jinny Beyer, but think that for the everyday quilter this book falls short. In reading this book I almost feel that one needs to purchase her fabric line in order to really practice what she is preaching. I have such a large stash that I would have to purchase way more fabric in order to use her approach to color usage. I was expecting something a bit different. Myself, I should not have purchased this book without having a chance to really look through it.

A superb tool for anyone
Jinny Beyer's "Color Confidence for Quilters" is an excellent sourcebook for those looking to expand their ideas of color usage within a quilt, especially for those working on the less traditional patterns. While it is true that her fabric line lends itself to the techniques described, it can be used with almost any monochrome or tone on tone fabric. If it has any faults at all, it is the fact that it doesn't address the use of multi-hue fabrics (those that have more than one dominant color) in combination. As a fan of batiks, which are often multi-hued fabrics, this is a little disappointing. But the book goes a long way to extending one's ideas of what colors and patterns will and won't work together. I don't know as I'd consider it a "must-have", but for anyone who thinks they lack a good foundation in color usage, it is an excellent tool.

Jinny Beyer is a master and her books are wonderful
I have followed Jinny Beyer ever since her first book, and I think I have all of the m. They are a huge inspiration and have got me into creating quilts that I never thought I would. Her color expertise is admirable, and now she has even managed to explain it. Thank you!

Good resource
Some people have great sense of color while others do not. Jinny has the greatest ability to put colors together and I refer to her resources often while choosing colors for my own quilts. She sells a color tool which I carry with me when shopping for fabric. It keeps me from making expensive mistakes.

one of my fav quilt books
I had this book before but it was lost in a move. sigh. so thankful I could get another for only a few bucks used but even at full price its worth the investment. you get complete instructions in how to use color in your quilts so they look as stunning as jinnys. at the backare color sample cards to cut out so you can easily pick colors to give your quilt or any project that extra oomph.

Not for me
This book just didn't work for me. Maybe if the color cards had been included, it would have helped, but her color choosing method seemed like unnecessary work. I didn't especially like her color combos.

Fabulous Resource!
Content is excellent - a must-have for quilters. The book smelled a bit musty, but I can live with that. Well worth the price and a timeless reference.
