Less annoying to use than boom arms.
If you have a mic that only tilts up and down, you're probably going to need some washers or o-rings so the mic can tighten down and also face the correct direction.I really like the practicality of this mount since it doesn't block your view and you can unplug the mic cable and move the whole thing to the side or in a drawer for a cleaner setup (just route the cable under the desk and learn to use velcro).

Inexpensive and solid
I bought this product to mount a microphone arm to my desk to use for online language lessons (я учу русский). It worked very well on combination with a flexible arm, though I'm actually still experimenting with the best way to mount the mic so as to place the mic where I need it without incurring feedback from my speakers. It comes with a 5/8"-27tpi standard thread adapter (DON'T ask me why the music industry settled on 27 threads per inch, because I have absolutely no idea unless it involved drugs), but in the event that's not actually what you need, if you take off the adapter there's an ordinary 1/4"-20 threaded stud under it.About the one thing I could wish is that the clamp opened about 1/4" wider, which would enable me to clamp it directly to the top of my 30" monitor. It will open to a claimed 1-5/8", but the monitor is almost 2" thick at the edge. If your desk or table is more than 1-5/8" thick, you might need to look for a different mounting solution — and if it has a deeply angled edge, you may not be able to get the clamp to work on it. A ROUNDED edge is probably OK.This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but is probably about as close as you're going to get to it.

Doesn't clamp securely; can slip off
Got this to attach a gooseneck mic stand for occasionally using a mic mounted to the edge of my desk. Regardless of how tightly I clamp this down, when adjusting the gooseneck, this still wants to slide around, to the point where I almost dropped a $150 mic when it slipped off the edge of my desk. The problem is the clamping surface - it's maybe .75" wide, has only four small contact points when clamped to a flat surface, and is made of very hard, slick plastic. I'm guessing they designed this to also be clamped to a pole, but it's useless for that due to the slickness of the plastic - when clamping to a pole, and attaching a condenser mic, it tends to slide down the pole when making even minor adjustments.A wider clamping surface, and more grippy material, would have solved this problem - all around, this is a subpar product that *barely* does what it's designed to do.

Measure the depth of your Podium top!
If you have a metal podium, make sure you measure how thick the top is if you are planning to attach this to it.the screw does not go all the way, so a top of about 1/2" would be ideal I think. If your top is just sheetmetal like ours is, you will have to make some "modifications".Good purchase (because we had tools and skills)

Perfect for my use
Was looking for a way to mount my video camera to my desk for streaming and this worked great. Just added a gooseneck and adaptor and the camera is mounted and stays in place.

Seems well constructed and stable
I am using this desk mount for a gooseneck mic stand, and have had no issues with it so far. Installation took about 20 seconds, no tools necessary. It's been great because ever since I stopped using gaming headsets with built-in boom mics and have been using real headphones, I have had a desktop mic and I found myself less inclined to use it because I had to speak pretty loudly for people to hear me due to distance. Now that I can have the mic suspended off of the desk at face level as well as closer, it has been much more convenient to use.

It is shocking how hard it is to find such a simple thing.
I was looking for exactly this when I wanted to attach my mic to a desk instead of having a stand take precious limited space at the desk.It is absurd how long it took to find something which lets me attach the mic directly, without yet another stand.I am perfectly happy with this small but heavy clamp, but in this case simplicity and ingenuity comes with too high of a price.

Caused Threadlock and Ruined Shock Mount!
I was very disappointed with the end result... Once I received the item, it was the only thing in the damaged box, with no warranty book or anything.I attached my expensive shock mount from Röde and half screwing it on, it got treadlocked! So I not only couldn't use the mount straight away, I ruined my shock mount!!! I had to go to a local music shop to get a new attachment for the mount and new shock mount...It was a waste of time and money to get a simple desk space saver method for streaming... Should of paid for a more expensive mount than this cheap alternative...

Useful addition to the kit bag
A useful clamp which fills a gap in the kit bag for setting up a mike without a floor stand or an expensive boom stand. I've just clamped it on a shelf behind my desk and used a goose neck which I already had, for attaching a USB mic to it. Works well and takes up little or no space. It's a little expensive for what it is, but as far as I can see it's unique, so if you want it, you're not going to find a cheaper alternative.

Sturdy and does the job - Would recommend
I use this to clamps a gooseneck mic holder to a shelf in my recording studio voice-booth. The shelf is 1-inch thick but the securing bolt could accommodate about another 3/4 of an inch. The metal is pretty solid but I thought the bolt looked as if its diameter was a little too small, but it didn't snap when I tightened it up and so far it has held everything securely.

Strong and sturdy.
This is a very simple but effective stand. I mounted it to my desk (although I had to add a small block of wood to pad out the thin metal of the desk to get a good grip. It’s very strong and I have a flexible swan neck fitted to support my microphone.
