I love these discs! They are so easy to use and for me being in a wheelchair, all I need to do is place three discs in my planter for my cats grass, wait until it magically grows -- then spread it with a fork (used only for this purpose), spread my seeds, press the seeds in gently, cover with some of the dirt and then cover and place on a shelf for a few days until the seeds take.I go through a few packs a year -- as I use three at a time. Price is great too and NO MESS!

Less mess and so easy to use
I was so surprised to see how easy it is to make soil for my little seedlings when I transplanted them as they outgrew the iDOO Hydroponic System. You just add water and the Minute Soil compressed Coco Coir Fiber Grow Pucks are formed into actual soil after just a few minutes by breaking up the pucks. It was amazing! So much cleaner and easier than digging and shoveling dirt, that may have ants or other insects in it.

Wonderful base for hydroponic transplants - no gnats!
I like to grow herbs in the quasi-hydroponic Click and Grow system, but the plants have a finite growth period in that system because plant food is stored in the growing medium and not delivered in the water. Transplanting is required for continued growth.I have been transplanting to standard potting soils like the MG brand. Every time I use potting soil, I am greeted by an infestation of annoying fungus gnats.Other indoor gardeners recommended a medium of coco coir + perlite, fed/watered with a nutrient solution. I had no experience with coir, and decided to try these pucks. These remind me a lot of desiccated sponge toys - when they get wet, they explode in size. These 80mm pucks do quickly expand to give a full liter of "soil." I love how the coir can be worked by hand, and not leave my fingernails dirty like potting soil with its manure/compost content. I created a medium of about 4:1 coir-to-perlite, placed it in my pots, and transplanted my herbs from Click and Grow.It has been about 6 weeks, and my herbs are thriving in the coir-based medium - it holds moisture extremely well, and I water them lightly about once a week with a dilute nutrient solution. Most importantly, I have not seen a fungus gnat!

Doesn’t make as much as described.
This is a great product and I am using it for growing cat grass. It did not expand as much as expected according to the description so I use almost twice as much.

Perfect for cat grass growing
I bought coco coir for growing grass for my indoor cat. These are amazing! But keep in mind that the pucks are pretty big, so one will be enough for two containers with grass seeds.
