Poor quality, not worth the price
Absolutely not worth over £200, material is flimsy, the bag has no structure. Paying for a name. Very poor. Sent it straight back for a refund.

I only own Briggs & Riley luggage so when I needed a weekend duffle, this brand was my immediate go to. It is very spacious with two inner side pockets plus a small outside pocket. It has a very comfortable shoulder strap and has loops on both sides that can be fixed to provide rigidity so things don’t slide. It’s the perfect size for a three day visit and is within guidelines to bring on a plane. It also seems well made like all their other products. It also has a lifetime warranty. It’s not cheap, but if you want a high quality duffel look no further.

Update: Worked well as a second piece of checked luggage, for two different people (i.e., two of these duffle bags), on a long international trip which required three flights each way to reach a remote destination. I will likely typically use these bags as back-up, packed flat luggage most of the time. Regardless, the two bags purchased easily handled being heavily packed checked luggage. Happy with this purchase. Original: Initially ordered a different Briggs & Riley duffel bag, but it would have not folded flat enough for easy packing, to be used as a back-up duffel bag when traveling (i.e., for a return flight, when an additional piece of luggage was desired) as well as I was underwhelmed by the zipper quality on the other B&R duffel bag. This duffel bag was on sale, so I decided to try it. I have not yet used the bag, but it appears to be well made, the zippers function well (better than the other B&R duffel bag), this duffel easily slides over the handles of my rolling luggage as well this duffel could be packed and used as additional luggage when returning from a trip.

Candidly, this is the first time I’ve ever given less than 5 stars for a B&R product. Bag does NOT hold its shape when empty, and has no padding whatsoever, contrary to what you’d reasonably think from the pictures. Think of it more like a heavy duty tote bag rather than a conventional duffle. Makes packing it slightly cumbersome, but the tradeoff being it’s lighter and much easier to store than many alternatives (as well as far nicer). Ballistic nylon is well/made, nice fit and finish overall. Grommet system is helpful because you can put the clasp around one or both of the grommets on either side of the bag. However, seems to be a significant design oversight in that if you clasp it through both (as is clearly pictured in the manufacturer’s photos), you really have to force it closed, and the clasp “pinches” the leather accents around the grommet (see photo attached to this review). Not the kind of thing B&R usually misses. For my purposes this bag will be sufficient, but wasn’t what I expected, especially for the price I paid. Something like this really shouldn’t exceed $200.

Let me start by saying I own a number of B+R products. I generally like the quality, design, and functionality. However, this duffle is disappointing. The fit and finish feels like typical B+R quality. Very nice hardware, zippers, and materials. Well assembled and seems durable like their other products. I think my biggest issue with this bag is the design of the latches / clasps on the side. As one other reviewer mentioned, the spring loaded clasps on the side of the bag to hold down the top ends are too small. When you have clasp through both rings, it will not close all the way because the clasps are too small. This is a major oversight in my opinion and doesn't really allow that to function - so it is really just for looks. I tried to include some pictures, but it is kind of hard to see. Also, the bag is a bit smaller than I anticipated. I added a few other B+R products to my pictures for comparison. A medium cargo backpack, a kinsie street messenger bag, and the 22 inch garment duffle. In my opinion, the B+R 22 inch garment duffle bag, while about $100 more, is a much better duffle. And it can be used as a garment bag. In terms of size, I was hoping this duffle would be a little smaller than the 22 inch garment bag, but bigger than it actually is. I travel a lot for work, and mostly just overnight trips. I like taking a duffle as opposed to a roller carry on because I just don't need that much space. This will probably fit my needs OK, but I am sure there are better options out there. If B+R made this slightly bigger and fixed the size of the clasps, I would be happy with this. But as it is, it feels overpriced and not designed well. Just not typical B+R that I have come to expect from using a lot of their other products. if you are considering this, I would say skip it and either get the 22 inch garment duffle or look elsewhere.

Doesn’t hold it’s shape, but the lack of structure makes it lighter and easier to store. The handle straps go behind/into the shell all the way to the floor, which means they will last long and not rip loose at the points where they join the bag. Other buyers have complained that the clips in the grommets on the ends/sides of the bag don’t easily clip into the grommets in the flaps at the ends of the top zipper. I have bought a black Black Diamond LiteWire carabiner and clip the two grommets (at either end of the zipper) to each other (on top of/over the bag) rather than down the sides. However, if you get a bag and have this reported problem (clipping the end grommets to grommets on the side), it’s an easy fix to buy two carabiners to connect them. The Black Diamond carabiners come in many colors and look sharp, it will look like they came with the bag.
