Create-A-Scene — Zoo Magnetic Playset — Portable Mess-Free Magnet Activities — For Ages 3+

I work in special education and am constantly looking for materials, toys, activities that will allow me to target a variety of skills. I remembered using Colorforms years ago, so went on Amazon to see if anything similar popped up. I then came across these Create-A-Scene boards from Smethport. Let me tell you, the kids LOVE these! I actually had to break up a preschool scuffle over the boards and pieces. There are so many ways to use these to model language, teach vocabulary, role play, etc. I have used these in various centers and the kids never tire of them. As a matter of fact, I have students sneaking away from the center they are in to come see what is happening in my center when we are using these. The price is right, they are multi-functional and the kids love them. What more can you ask!?!? Now for the nit-picky negatives...1) a few pieces have gone MIA as I've moved them from location to location...there is nowhere to store the individual magnets other than on the board itself, 2) in the picture, there appears to be an oval-shaped cut out which I assumed was a carrying handle...none of my boards have these. It would have made them a bit easier to carry. Other than those two things, these are a total hit!

This is a great magnetic set for young children. There are 33 figures and a magnetic board with different zoo scenes. I had trouble finding places for all of the animals. After all, you don't want the polar bears to be with the seals, or the lions to be with the zebras.The figures consist of 3 humans, a lion, tiger, leopard, giraffe, hippo, rhino, bears, monkeys, zebra, and many others.I'm using it for a 20 month old, which is lower than the age recommended. If your child puts non-edible things in his mouth, you won't want to buy this because many of the pieces are choking hazards.That said, this zoo provides hours and hours of entertainment. The magnets work on the board provided, on refrigerators, freezers, and metal doors.Kids learn the names of the animals very quickly, then go about arranging them and playing with them.

I got this for our 3 year old. He liked it alot when he first opened it and played with it for about 3 days. Then after that the newness and it keeping his interest peaked and he didn't care for it after that. It is nice though. There are lots of animals and people to play with and make your own habitats. Great way to teach the different animals. Good quality, abit heavier than I thougt it would be but stores easily. Magnets could be stronger but they don't fall off when you pick the board up or anything. Overall cute toy and maybe my son will enjoy it more in the future.

I love these magnet create-a-scene activity sets. I use them with my DHH students to work on language development in both ASL and it’s translation to written English. However, this set (zoo) is visually very, very “busy”. There are just so many habitats in which to place the people and animals. It becomes very confusing to adequately describe the prepositions of location clearly enough for the language delayed DHH child to correctly place the pieces on the magnet board. For the normally developing child though, this is a very good activity to use for story starters or other language activities. I just prefer the other magnet create-a-scene activity boards to this one.

Got for my 3 year old for a plane ride and he loved it! Good quality

We already had this product in our preschool, but it was 20+ years old and the magnets had seen better days. We had been wanting to replace it. When the price came up for this one, we jumped on purchasing it. Love it!

Love the idea. But the booklet itself was too big. It wont fit into kids backpack.

I have two sons, who are in kindergarten and grade 1. I use it to teach them English since English is their second language. In general, my children love playing with it. I also have a whiteboard and it sticks well on there as well. My only pet-peeve about this item would be that sometimes the picture and the magnetic come apart (you could easily glue it back on so it is not huge problem).
