light and well designed
very nice pack, extremely light, roughly 300 grams, good adjustable fit for me as a smallish guy (5'7) though doesn't fit my curvy wife well at all. Straps are quite long so I'm sure it would fit taller bigger guys well, though the shoulder straps don't lie well over my wife's chest!Chest straps are elasticated, slightly odd clip mechanism to attach them which I imagine could be tricky with gloved or cold hands - for multi day trekking or cold weather use I'd be tempted to replace the chest straps with something less fiddly because the straps it comes with might well ping themselves off and go flying into the undergrowth if you adjust them clumsily. They do work well in normal conditions though and are very light and allow you to breathe deeply whilst still holding the pack securely around your chest. The whole pack is very well thought out with some great features. I love the under arm pole system, very comfortable and even my long telescopic poles are held nicely out of the way, z poles would work even better.More like a rucksack than many running packs are - waist strap is useful for stability more than load transfer to the hips. Hugs the body and it feels like you a carrying a lot less weight than you really are since it doesn't just sit on your shoulders but transfers the weight well to your torso. Because of the lack of load transfer to the hips it would not work well with a heavier load - say 5kg plus, but this is true of almost all small frameless packs. The fact it sits fairly high means you could carry a waist pack with it, I kind of wish there was a bit more use made of the waist area for storage in the manner of Raidlight packs but its easily sorted with the dirt cheap 50 gram 2 litre bum bags from a particular French outdoor retailer.Chest pockets could have been larger - I think you would struggle to get a soft flask of more than 400ml or 500ml inside, my Raidlight 600ml soft flasks definitely are too big. I wish Montane supplied this with appropriate sized flasks since one of the real benefits of this style of pack is carrying the weight of water on the front. It must be designed for soft flasks since there is an elastic strap above each front pocket to hold a straw in place, but I haven't yet found the perfect size.My iphone SE2020 fits easily into one of the front pocket even in its case, and you can get buffs, gloves, energy bars and all sorts in them if you carry bottles elsewhere. Indeed a 750ml bottle fits easily in each side mesh pocket with lots of room to spare and you really can easily get the bottle out through the zippable waist fins, and put it back too. So its a really a brilliant pack if you prefer bottles in the side to soft flasks in the front.Pack looks waterproof though I haven't tested it yet. Colour is pleasant and looks smart and modern.I recommend it, currently my favourite pack, an excellent pack for the Camino for example, and I plan to get the larger 28 litre version.
