Zancudo is a great design, even better in D2
I owned a zancudo in AUS8 for a number of years that I used for daily carry before upgrading to the D2. Its great for most pedestrian stuff that 95% of people will use it for. If you live on a ranch or are a construction worker, this probably isn't for you (as a police officer I carry a beefier ZT knife at work). This handles all my house work and yard with no issue, and I taken it camping and traveling all over the US from multiple alaska trips down to florida. It had held up well and does not exhibit any play in the lock or blade. I use it as designed, as a lightweight cutting tool. If you used this to pry open locked doors, or 2x4s that have been glued together, its going to fall apart. This is a light folder, and if you use it as a crowbar, you won't be happy with the results. Used in its intended function, its great. The blade design is very versatile, and the frame lock was properly ground to leave extra space for lock break in and wear. The D2 is a big upgrade over the aus8. It stays sharp about twice as long, and over time gets a gorgeous patina. If you don't know, only one side has a handle scale. The side with the frame lock is bare steel. I've seen others complain about this, but I've always prefered a frame lock to a liner lock. I have some very expensive big name company folders, but I always come back to this for daily carry because of its build quality, light weight, and good design.

Great knife let down by terrible retention mechanism
The knife seems very well made for the price, the knife locks open solidly, the handle and blade shape are very practical, and the blade comes with an excellent edge. However, it is absurdly difficult to open. The inside of the frame lock has small ball detent that drops into a hole drilled in the blade when the knife is closed. This makes opening the knife one handed incredibly difficult. if the ball only went a small way down into a spherical depression it could work great but as is it drops down far to much and only allows the knife to be easily opened if you pull straight out on the blade with your off hand or by pushing on both thumb studs with two fingers.Unless you don't care about one handed operation or are planning on modifying the knife I would chose something else.

A winner
This is the perfect size for every day carry. I picked up this knife and the Eafengrow EF221 to see which would replace the Benchmade Mini Greptilian in 156CM I lost. Both of my would-be replacement are in D2 steel so I can evenly compare and contrast them on design and execution. The size is pretty equivalent to the Mini Greptilian so I expect it to become my go to every day carry. The Eafengrow is about an inch longer and a lot beefier, making it a better choice for camping or workshop duties in my use.Out of the box this knife is a little less sharp than the Eafengrow and noticeably less than the Eafengrow after I honed the edge. When I have some time to touch this knife up on my Spyderco sharpener I expect it to be just as sharp.Compared to the 156CM Mini Greptilian, this knife isn’t as sharp out of the box but I also expect that after honing they’ll be on pretty equal footing. The real difference will be in ease of sharpening. D2 is considered difficult to sharpen but I didn’t have any issues with the other knife. I expect this to be a very subjective issue and a lot of arguments in both directions can be found on the internet. I have sharpened a lot of knives owing to working in a knife store, so that may just be my experience/bias showing. As far as erogonomics are concerned, frame locks are a little tough on the fingers and they don’t ease up much. This is essentially a feature as frame locks are very reliable and are not expected to randomly open in your pocket or close on your fingers as liner locks can and sometimes do. The Eafengrow and Mini Greptilian are axis locks, which I prefer. Functionally I don’t think there’s any reason to ding the knife and review it poorly because of this. Some other perks of his knife:- Clio holes for Tip up/tip down carry configurations- Attractive scales- Good fit and finish including a well mounted bladeEdit: Touching up the blade with just the white stones in the 40 degree edge position did improve the cutting ability of the knife. If you have a quality sharpener/stones then you should make sure to do that.

Great knife, great price, D2 tool steel.
I have been wanting to try out the BRK Zancudo and Avispa for a while. I was pleasantly surprised by the Ontario Rat 1 and 2. The Rat 2 gets carried very frequently since it is a good EDC size, decent steel (Aus8) and pretty cheap. I own quite a few benchmades, spydercos, kershaws. Once I saw they came out with the Zancudo in D2, I had to give it a try.Pros:D2 tool steel! Lightning fast deployment (rivals some of my spring assist blade), lightweight, very thin, tip up or down pocket clip, pillar construction (allows easy cleaning of handle), frame lock (stronger than liner locks), spine of blade has a slight chamfer to it (the Rat models have a very sharp corner on the spine)Cons:Sharp edges (the frame lock, and inner edges of the frame could use a chamfer), pocket clip not reversible (sorry lefties)Also included a size comparison photo.

Good pocket knife, but.....
I received this knife, wanting a thin and light pocket knife I can just leave in my pocket and use as needed throughout the day. It is well made, with good steel, but I was disappointed that there are only scales on one side of the knife! The other side is just stainless steel with the clip on top. I find this affects the comfort and grip in using the knife, and would not have ordered it had I known this. It should have been revealed in the description on Amazon, and so I am a somewhat disappointed customer in this case.

Painful to Open, torture.
I BOUGHT TWO and both had same issue of liner detent action. Painful to open with one hand, absolute thumb torture. At this price, what a waste to have 2 handed open on such a nice knife. RETURNED IMMEDIATELY. If you want to buy a new knife that you have to fix with a file, this is for you.
