TK-178 Line Voltage Track Head in White for H Track

Love love love these track light bases! So easy! My old track base was a full enclosed canister that did not accept LED and required an expensive odd peg legs bulb that took God's will to insert into the base. I finally cussed those things for the last time and replaced all 6 of them with these. Great decision! A lot of flexibility in where you can point the bulb and what kind of bulb you can use. And with LED my kitchen will be cooler. Hall track next project!

These are great and look nice in my gallery. I wanted a fixture that allowed the LED bulbs to breathe because I've had several of them go bad and I was told that with the large can fixtures, the heat builds up inside and that can cause issues with the bulbs. Plus, I can use any size bulb I want with these, instead of just the smaller ones. These are fairly easy to install, but can only go in the track one way. Be careful or it's easy to break them. Once in, they are simple enough to adjust, which is good because we change out our shows every three weeks so these get adjusted quite a bit. They are holding up well. I initially purchased just one of these as a tester and then when I ordered more, I was sent a different model that didn't work with the tracks I have. So, at this time, I only have one of these. But if they go on sale again and they can send me the right model, I'd totally order more of them.

Nice, small head that looks great with Philips Hue PAR16 LED bulbs. Very pleased that heads are still being made for line-level J-tracks whose popularity peaked nearly 50 years ago. I threw away all the giant "cans" from the 1970s that made the track look ancient and replaced them with these. I found the tab that locks the unit into the track was very difficult to move down (to unlock, to reposition), so you should probably try to position these where you want them right away, or you may need lots of leverage to unlock them. One star off for that.

Did a lot of research about track lighting, specifically with LED bulbs in mind. Using WAC Lighting as the manufacturer for all the pieces except bulbs, I ordered 8' and 4' sections of white track, end power connectors, track connectors, and HTK-178-WT H Series light heads. The heads are minimalistic but functional. They blend nicely with the white-sided LED bulbs from Cree. My wife and I are very pleased with the results. The only problem I had was a shipping issue. The tracks are shipped in a heavy cardboard tube. One of the long tracks arrived perfectly, but the other was re-packed in a cardboard box with the tube placed inside. The tube was mangled and bent, and the outer box was taped where had literally been severed all the way around. Needless to say, the track was ruined, most likely by the shipper. In countless orders from Amazon, this was my first return. The process took some time, but I received a replacement track in a couple days, and it was fine. Kudo’s for a no-hassle return! Another subsequent 8’ track order also arrived without a problem. Outside of the track hardware, there are a lot of decisions to make about LED bulbs — physical size (PAR 28 short neck), wattage (75-watt incandescent equivalent), color temperature (3000K — slightly “warm”), beam angle (combination of 40 degree flood and 25 degree spot). Oh, and they had to be dimmable, too. We could not be happier with the solution we picked.

Works well. Suitably adjustable. Could stand to be a bit more solid but still works for what I needed it for.

Perfect for me as I needed adjustable angles and a shallow fixture for a low ceiling.

I have WAC track lighting and my low voltage heads, bought years ago, are slowly dying. They are frightfully expensive to replace, and I stumbled on these here on Amazon. I verified with WAC that these heads are compatible with my track, and bought one for experimentation. Works perfectly, plus the light from the PAR lamp is brighter than my halogen, and the LEDs operate at a fraction of the wattage. While not a perfect match for my existing heads, it is close enough, and a big Win for me.

It fits into the track and allows me to screw in a regular bulb. That's what I wanted. Range of adjustment is excellent. Full 360 rotation on the horizontal and 180 swivel on the vertical with a hand screw to tighten/loosen it, so you don't need a screwdriver to make adjustments.
