I have owned several smart locks over the course of the past 10 years and the Switch Bot Smart Lock delivers a successful solution for renters who are unable to change their lock due to their lease/management agreement. If you live in an apartment where you would like to add the features of a smart lock including remote access and the ability to add a keypad to unlock the door. This smart lock is for you. I have researched many companies and SwitchBot is really only the company with a product like this that doesn’t change anything about your current lock but rather acts as enhancement that simply turns the knob on the lock.

It didn’t work for me which is I guess due to kind of Lock I had (it is a bit hard to turn which caused the failure I believe ). But if I had a different mechanism I will still buy the product as it is a small sturdy product and was very easy install. Took me less than 5 minutes and it works as advertised. I believe if I had a smoother mechanism for my lock this would have worked fine. A quick update : I reached out to company before my return and they confirmed my suspicion as well that it was type of lock mechanism I had which caused the fail. I will recommend this product to anyone who looking for a small gadget which is so easy to install and works as advertised.

The only star this thing gets is one for easy to install the door lock device . Other than that I would give it zero. 1st off, there are no clear cut instructions that came with the device on how to connect the mini hub to the lock to make it work remotely. The instructions assumes you have every device that can be managed with the mini hub except the freakin lock that it actually comes with. I had to search around endlessly to read that you have to have cloud service to use the lock remotely with the mini hub. Mind you, I contacted there “no customer service” numerous times via phone and sending emails and to date no one has ever returned my calls or emails. After a week of trying, I finally got this thing to unlock remotely. Well yesterday there was a power outage in the area so the mini hub was disconnected. Went back to my property to connect the mini hub. Did that but for the life of me, i cannot get the hub to connect to the device nor the cloud. Wasted over an hour of my life. I kept on getting an error that says the mini hub wasn’t near the device although I laid the darn mini hub on top of the smart lock. Also though all my notifications are on in my app, the app keeps saying that the notifications are “off.” Im done trying this piece of crap. What a waste of time, money and effort 12/9/22 Edit: have added 3 stars to my 1 star because I am happy to say that Stella the customer service Rep finally got back to me. The company is on a very different time zone than I am so it made it very difficult to reach someone, but she has been trying to resolve my issues by constantly follow up with me and checking on me via email, and she also made fair restitution for the trouble I had been going through with the lock and trying to reach them so I definitely appreciate that. To resolve the issue that I reported above, I had to delete the app and reinstall it to get it to function properly. The cloud remote service still only will work on a hard wired wifi. It will not work on anything other than a 2.4 GHZ hard wired wifi because I tried to operate it by using my 2.4GHZ hotspot, my 5G and 4G hotspot and my iphone's hot spot but it just will now work. It will only work remotely on a hard wired 2.4ghz wifi. I guess I thought all products like these would be like Ring or My Q where it will work anywhere as long as you have any kind of wifi signal. Though I had some challenges with the product, good customer service goes a very long way for me (especially in this day and age when companies just want your money, but they don't want to be bothered with you if you need help) the help that I received from the agent Stella meant a lot to me and I appreciate her for her care and concern.

The lock is a great upgrade for my apartment but I realised it will lose calibration over time and the door will think it is lock when it is actually unlock. The solution seems to re-calibrate it from time to time. Nevertheless it works as intended and its easy to install

Our condo requires consistent door lock styles, and I struggled to find a suitable product until I came across this lock. It's easy to install and operate without needing to replace the lock core. I connected it to Google Home seamlessly. Highly recommend!
