TrailHead Short +20°F

used this a while back for a cold deer camp weekend. It's good to sleep in, kept me warm and pretty comfy. Even rolls up as nicely as I bought it. The size is as listed, I just realized after my camping weekend that I'm a side sleeper no matter what so I need to go bigger. But for you back sleepers with not as big of a back or wide shoulders, you might really like this enough to keep it

very soft and warm and lightweight! I really like how you can unzip it from the bottom too for foot ventilation

This is a good sleeping bag for the price, I got the short length and I am 5’2” and it worked for me. I do think it would be better if they added 2” in width. The weight and packed size of the bag is great. I used this on a backpacking trip and it got down to 50 degrees and my feet got a little cold. I do not think I would have been warm if it was any colder.

This is a good, light weight bag that packs decently small. I'm 5'2" and fit comfortably in the short. Unfortunately I find it a bit too tight in the knee area to ever get comfortable but that's really just because of how I find it comfortable sleep and I don't really like mummy bags in general. What this does mean though is that there isn't a ton of space if you want to put gear in your bag with you to keep warm. The hood is quite comfortable but I would not rate this for 20F. I've used this in Alaska in August and the CO mountains in late May and even with a sleeping pad and thermal layers was frozen both times even though the temps were above freezing. You won't die at 20F but you definitely won't be comfortable either. I'd rate this as more of a 40-50F sleeping bag but for the price I'm glad I gave it a try.

I am a former outdoor guide and long distance hiker with three kids, two of whom are in a scout troop and are starting to do some cool weather camping. During a Prime deal, I bought them each a 20F Trailhead bag in the short "scout" size and a 5F Tracker bag from Teton Sports. I wanted something that would be comfortable, durable, and affordable that would also be light enough for them to take backpacking during the warmer months. We tested out the 20 degree bags this week on a fall camping trip with temps getting down to 46F at night. They all reported that the bags kept them warm. We were in a tent in a sheltered area with little wind, and they wore fleece sweatshirts and sweatpants. They are small to medium-sized for their age. With good base layers, socks, and a hat, I would trust these bags in slightly colder weather, but for anything colder than 40, we plan on switching to the 5 degree bags to make sure they stay cozy. We don't plan on doing any winter backpacking with the kids quite yet, so weight won't be an issue when using the 5 degree bags. Overall we are very happy with these bags' performance for the price!

Purchased for use in mostly warm-mild weather camping, but on the first night of use there was a cold weather warning for California. On top of a warm-weather inflatable sleeping pad, in what felt like 18°F temps and with a drizzling rain outside, this did not keep me warm. I was shivery the whole night.But! With another sleeping bag below it, or something to better insulate this bag from the sleeping pad I used, this was perfect. I liked the ease of getting in/out, the 2-way zippers, the roomy footbox, the electronics pocket and the weight/bulk were great (since I flew with it).I had purchased another sleeping bag before realizing it was a cotton foam inside, so I switched to this one because it was polyester (easier to dry if it got wet), and it was more lightweight and less bulky. I know this is more geared for Youth, but as a 5'1 person this fit me perfectly and meant I had less 'bag' to carry for the weight and bulk. Would not recommend if you are over 5'4.The bag it came in was ripped though, from the beginning, so that wasn't great but oh well.

The quality of the bags were good, however I do disagree with most of the reviews on here about the comfort/survival rating. We used these bags for an overnight backpacking trip recently in the Midwest. Wore dry long johns top/bottom, dry wool socks and under armor hoody to bed. I am middle aged man, that always runs HOT, was kinda worried I would be venting the badlg at night. That night temps showed getting down around 40f at night. The temps ended up dipping into the low 30s before morning, we just about froze to death, not literally but too uncomfortable to sleep at all, ended up just getting out of bed and relighting a fire and staying up all night. Seems like the quality is there, the rating must be the survival rating, because at 20f ther dis no way any body would do anything BUT just survive. Good luck

I’ve used Teton sleeping bags since a teenager and they have always been my favorite. Particularly this one. The fabric is perfect, it’s doesn’t grab dirt and is soft compared to the nylon of many other mummy bags. The zipper works every time and slides smoothly. I have the regular (5’4” 215 lbs) and my husband (6’ 200 lbs) has the long and they fit us perfectly. Most of the time we sleep too warm in these but that’s the problem I’d rather have than being too cold. We haven’t pushed them to there Temperature limit but for spring/summer/fall camping in the PNW, these are perfect!

NOT comfortable at 20F/-7C, but usable down to around freezing. Best at 40F/5C and above.You will NOT be comfortable at 20F/-7C with this sleeping bag, in fact you'd be far too cold to sleep. However, with thermal underwear, warm socks, a beanie (or head covering of some sort), a quality sleeping pad, and inside of a 4-season tent, I've used this sleeping bag in sub-zero temperatures without any real issues. That being said, anything below freezing is uncomfortable, even with the above mentioned gear. Just remember not to open it once you settle in for the night, or you'll lose a lot of heat...In terms of comfort (which highly depends on the individual), I'd say it's "acceptable" down to around 32F/0C (while wearing the aforementioned cold weather gear), and warm or "comfortable" down to around 40F/5C (with the mentioned gear). The 20F/-7C rating is likely the "survivable" temperature, at which you would be very uncomfortable and likely unable to sleep due to the cold, but not die from hypothermia. I've also used it in warmer temperatures by simply reducing what I wear while sleeping, and leaving the bag unzipped.Overall it's a quality sleeping bag, light weight, and offers much better size/warmth performance of any sleeping bag anywhere near the price. I've used mine for a number of years now and recently bought two more for friends, as it is better than anything found in German stores for anywhere near the price.Highly recommended for backpackers/trekkers who don't plan to sleep in temperatures much colder than 40F/5C (unless you have additional quality cold weather gear). A compression sack is necessary to further reduce the size; my medium sea-to-summit compression sack holds my sleeping bag, inflatable pillow, thermal underwear, beanie, gloves, warm socks, and a few other soft/compressible items, yet is still smaller than the sleeping bag is without a compression sack). As for a compression sack, I recommend Sea to Summit, as I've had mine for years and never had any issues.

No lo he utilizado en campamento pero lo probé en casa, es muy cálido, compacto y ligero. Comparado con otros sleeping bag que he tenido la tela no es tan plástica, es muy suave, cómodo y no requiere mucho espacio en tu mochila cosa que me encanta. Espero utilizarlo pronto en camping pero por lo visto cumple con las expectativas.

This bag is exactly what I wanted it to be: small and light enough to fit easily into a motorcycle tank bag along WITH a self-inflating mattress, and warm enough to work on cool summer or shoulder season nights. I think its quality versus price ratio is particularly good.
