4.5 out of 5!!!
Another HOME RUN in this series!I caught a couple of typos in this one that made following the reading a little difficult, but the book is very informative, with clear and concise directions and a step-by-step guide that is easy to follow. I didn't feel overwhelmed by a wave of jargon that is typical in a lot of books on the subject. But at the same time, I didn't feel like I was reading Coding for Dummies. This was a very practical approach to instruction that I appreciate and can fully understand. After reading this book I could see where I was and how far I had come in understanding JavaScript!

Precisely for beginners
What a a way to start JavaScript while also seeing this how they evolve in from Ying your screen with most simplified examples.I enjoyed every bit of it and now happy to move the next book for my world of JavaScript.

Great guide for anyone wanting to program with JavaScript
This is a great guide for beginners. The author really spells out the concepts and commands in a way that is easy to understand. There is a brief history on JavaScript and how it was developed and named. There is also a lot of information on the benefits you can get from using JavaScript to program. There are a lot of terms and ideas in this book that are new to me, as I am just a beginner, but I feel like I have a much better understanding of the process now. I will be using this book as a reference in the future!

Decent but uninspired.
The writer did an ok job going over some basic functionality, but there were some mistakes (charat spelled chatat) and some other minor issues. The biggest problem was the uninspired way they put together the examples. They used some examples multiple times to display different things. And the way just flew through most of it without really explaining it, providing inputs or options, left me dissapointed. That said, I did get some value from this. But the repetitive nature of it was grating.

Great For The Newbie!!
I have built two websites so far and thought I should probably learn JavaScript at some point, so I decided to take the dive with Clark's book. I'm so glad I did! With tons of examples and clear descriptions/definitions, I now feel I have a grasp on the language. I am confident I'll be able to learn more. I'm looking forward to the next step and Clark's next book.

Not Recommended for Beginners
This is not "for absolute beginners." Here is an example. In the second sentence of the first working chapter, it says, "Data in JavaScript is expressed as objects, which makes it easier and more extensible to work with various forms of data in JavaScript." Let's forgive the strange construction of beginning and ending the sentence with the same phrase. Instead, how about, what is "data"? what is it to express it? What are objects? What is it to be extensible? This is one of the earliest sentences in the book, and to an absolute beginner, the supposed target audience, there are several elements to be mystified by here. If you read that sentence and had a decent idea of what it was saying, great. This book may be helpful. However, I would argue that you are definitely not the "absolute beginner" the book's title references. Annoying.

Breif and To the Point
Javascript is a popular client-side scripting language that is used to develop products and applications to run in a web browser. This book provided a step-by-step guide in learning programming which is definitely designed for beginners. What I appreciate from this book is the idea of learning by doing through the practical examples given. This book also contains a brief history of javascript, features, uses, ways to write, and a lot about javascript.

Excellent!
Another excellent job by Mr. Clark! He makes learning java so easy by going step by step for rookies! If you struggle like most of us getting in a computer friendly frame of mine, this is your guy!

Not bad
Good one for those who are looking for a quick start with zero knowledge in programming. It could have been better if there is a detailed explanation for code snippets given in the book.

Pretty basic
It is a good intro to the topic, but nothing that you could not find online. All the elements for a good start are in one spot.

Not for beginners
While a reasonable summary of JavaScript commands is provided, there is very little information on how to use them in practice.
