Hotel Buildings: Construction and Design Manual

Very good book reference for young architects.

Das Handbuch Hotel Buildings ist sehr umfassend und beschreibt die Besonderheiten beim Hotelbau sehr umfassend. Ausgezeichnet sind die Illustrationen und die praktischen beispiele. Im Bereich der Tourismusausbildung an Hochschulen setzen wir sowohl die deutsche, als auch die englische Ausgabe ein. Sehr hilfreich ist dabei das Glossarium, welches dem Leser die Begrifflichkeiten in beiden Sprachen näher bringt. Ein grosses Kompliment an die beiden Autoren zu diesem gelungen Werk! N. I found this book to be interesting, but I wouldn't categorize it as a "construction and design" manual. There are some good rules of thumb and past project experiences from the author, but the vast majority of projects are limited to Germany and surrounding countries. I also found that at times, the book was a bit "preachy" and condescending toward the reader -- almost as if the author was the only person in the world truly qualified to design hotels. Since this is a German-based publication, perhaps the original text was written in German, and the English translation came across the wrong way? Not really sure. But overall, a good read!
