I purchased one to test out first. Based on reviews, I liked the fact that it can travel with me without taking up a whole section in my luggage. My first impression: it wasn't as soft and I was skeptical about its absorbency. I followed directions and soaked it in water for 24hrs prior to first use. Then I threw it in the wash alone on delicate cycle (cold and low spin), and allowed it to air dry. Right away, my previous reservations went away. It was already softer than when I first received it and boy, did it dry fast. No way would a regular towel have dried in that time. I went ahead and purchased 2 more for an upcoming trip that included a water park. I just can't get over how compact they folded. And don't let the thinness fool you. At the water park, we were able to reuse them all day because they absorbed well and dried quickly in between uses. Winner! I am currently unpacking and just a moment ago, I was putting these away...still more impressed! They are holding up well and continue to soften with each wash. I love these so much, I felt compelled to write this review for my fellow Amazon-ers. In fact, I will add another to my shopping cart as soon as I am finished here. Just be sure to care for them as directed:(1) soak 24hrs to allow fibers to initially expand--only need to do this once (2) use delicate or hand wash cycles (3) do not use fabric softener which will negatively impact the absorbancy (4) avoid the dryer; they air dry effectively and still remain soft. An additional tip: some reviews complain about the fringes unravelling after the first wash. Based on another user, I took the time to tighten the knot on each fringe before that first soak. Some were definitely loose and I have no doubt they would have come undone. So glad I did this. All of my fringes are still nicely twisted.There are many listings from different sellers and sites. Prices can vary widely but don't let this price point fool you. They're the real deal and I'm snagging me another one. Maybe even two...

This item is definitely NOT 100% cotton. I’ve been working professionally with fabrics for the past 33 years. As soon as I unpacked this towel something seemed off. The tassels were a bit too white and the fabric felt warm and fuzzy to the touch, not smooth and cool like cotton. As per other reviewers suggestions, I then washed the towel, which only made it more obvious that this is not cotton. The absorbency is not great and the fabric feels almost oily when it’s wet- like an acrylic sweater. Short of doing a burn test to figure out the fine content, at best I will use this as a beach blanket, but I really wish I hadn’t washed it so I could return it. What a waste of money!

The hype for turkish towels and feeling tired of mildewy terrycloth in my Northern climate bathroom drove me to buy my first turkish towel last month. I was not impressed upon opening it. The fabric felt like acrylic, smelled like chemicals and looked cheap. I followed another reviewer's suggestions and let it soak in water for 24 hours. I then washed it on gentle cycle and hung it to air dry. I use it every day as a bathtowel. The absorbancy is moderate at best and the cloth drags along my skin. The fabric is beginning to pill, and a fringe came loose already. It's slightly more absorbent than my camp towel and packs small, so I may use this for travel. It's possible that this listing now sells towels that are from a different source than previously, taking advantage of the high customer rating. :(

This arrived quickly, wrapped very neatly and very minimally. It was softer, out of the package, then I had expected, based upon of the reviews. I soaked it and plain water for 24 hours as directed and then washed it separately in cold water with my normal detergent and fabric softner. Then it was time to use it, and I was kind of excited.I told myself not to expect a lot, because it was so thin , but I will say that it was very efficient at trying me. it didn't have the coziness of a cotton looped towel but it did very easily dry me thoroughly and then was a nice wrap afterwards while I went around and got my clothes together.It was very large more than plenty to wrap around me and I have that in my towels lately. I'm short and even my towels don't go to my knees this one did though. I bought this one as sort of a test drive before I get on the road. I'm looking for something that will be lightweight easy to pack & will be quick to dry. I think this towel will qualify! I do plan on buying more.

I have to say I’m not usually this impressed by products... let alone a towel! I bought this towel on a whim before traveling to Oahu. This towel is incredibly versatile and sized just right. I used it as a swim coverup, layed it on the beach to rest on, used it to cover up valuables when parking my rental car... I’m probably forgetting so many other functions. After getting it wet and leaving it on the sandy beach it did collect a lot of sand. But all I had to do was shake it out and allow it to dry a bit, then all of the sand would come right off. I don’t recall exactly how long it took to dry each time but it felt like not much time passed at all. I packed this in my carry on and it took up very little space.Overall, this was probably the best purchase I made for that trip. I’m hoping to get a few more of these in the future!

Love this towel. It’s super thin so it packs up tightly which is what I wanted so I can travel light to the beach. Big enough to lay comfortably without worrying about the hot sand. It’s a bit stiff but I haven’t washed it yet. Description says black, but the pic is more accurate. Definitely gray and looks great.

I’ve purchased several Turkish towels on Amazon, ranging in price from these, up to $30/towel, and these were, by far, the best. Altogether, I purchased 6 of these, in various colors, to have on our pontoon boat. They’re light, beautiful, well-made, and absorbent. We hosted several large family get together and everyone used the towels and LOVED them. I tightened the knots at the ends and followed the washing instructions, and I haven’t had any problems. They look like new. I want to buy more, even though I don’t need more, just because. If you’re wading through all the choices and reviews, like I was, this is your towel. Buy and enjoy.
