Best coverage of JFK Assassination
Interesting pictorial coverage of the five days around the assassination of President Kennedy--but written by Clint Hill, one of the two secret service agents assigned to cover Jackie Kennedy. The fantastic photographs clearly describe his words. This should be a must read for all who lived through those agonizing days when America stood on edge.

Bringing back those five days
High school physics class was where I heard the news of President Kennedy's assassination. I remember being glued to the TV with my mother since we had that Monday off, and this book, "Five Days in November" by Clint Hill, brought it all back like it was yesterday. The picture of Hill desperately climbing on the back of the President's limosine is one I've never forgotten as the First Lady also was climbing the opposite way towards Hill on the back of the car.Clint Hill was the Secret Service Agent assigned to Mrs. Kennedy and he was always with her to protect her and so had a close relationship with her as her guard and confidante. To this day, Mr. Hill feels the guilt that he couldn't do enough to save the President and should have been faster in getting on the car, but I doubt that anyone blames him other than himself. There are a lot of pictures from those days, and many of them I have never seen before. There are no captions, but in the Kindle edition, the pictures come right after their subject matter is discussed. People of my generation who lived through it and remember it very well will know many of the figures in the pictures, but if younger people read it they may not know who some of the people are. For that reason, captions would help. The book is written plainly and simply so that there is no question about what the author means, and there are no rumors or questions left for the reader to wonder about after closing the book. It is straightforward about what happened hour by hour from the time the Kennedys left on the helicopter, waving good-bye to little John who was crying so hard, to the time the shots rang out and the funeral was held. The graciousness and strength of Mrs. Kennedy is overwhelming under such circumstances. It is a compelling story that Hill has written and one that all generations can benefit from reading. Highly recommended.

Great insight
This gives you a inside look at a historic event that no one else could give you. Really humanizes the family and people close to the president.

Great narrative of four sad days in history
The author, Clint Hill, was a member of the Secret Service, and personal guard for Mrs. Kennedy. He was on the backup car, and, I'm sure many recall, his dangerous leap onto the car to save Mrs. Kennedy from tumbling into the street. I was ten years old at the time of the assassination and still feel as though it were yesterday.Mr. Hill has, earlier this year, written a marvelous book (I also purchased here on Amazon) about his life as agent with the Kennedy family, called "Mrs. Kennedy and Me". I sent my copy to him and received it back autographed in the book itself, as well as his personally addressing the package to me! One heck of a nice guy.He has suffered dreadfully from the assassination, always blamed himself for not reacting more quickly at the moment of impact of the bullet to the President. This book is a tribute to his dedication and devotion to the President, as well as a superb narrative of those four dreadful days.It is a great read, as one is taken through the excitement of the trip to Texas, as well as Kennedy's hesitation to take the trip, misgivings from several of his advisors, and his eagerness to heal the political rift despite the atmosphere a few weeks earlier when Adlai Stevenson had been hit with a placard. The narrative is almost surreal, the trip a huge success, nothing but adulation greeting the Kennedys, then, the awful shots. One is taken through an emotional roller coaster as Mr. Hill describes his personal experiences in all that happened those dreadful four days. Other books have detailed animosity on the plane returning back to Washington DC between the Kennedy and Johnson people, but Mr. Hill does not comment on it at all.I could go on and on, but, the best thing for you to do is read the book and experience all it has to offer. If you, like I, remember those dreadful days, or, if you love history and have read about John F. Kennedy, this book will not fail to move you.

When John F. Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963 ...
When John F. Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963, Secret Service Agent Clint Hill saw it happen, and this is his story. Agent Hill was assigned to guard the First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, and he made a desperate effort to protect her and JFK from the assassin's bullets. This is a book well worth reading if you are interested in what happened on that tragic day in Dallas.

Good book
I have always been interested in JFK as he died before I was born, but yet my parents generation loved him. The book isn't a work of literary genius, but the story is simply told by the Secret Service man that was there and from the heart. If you are interested in this peace of US history - it's a good easy read.
