These are a good addition to the space. My daughter loves being able to change the colors with the remote.

The lights does have the features that you wont find in a lot of other recessed lighting. dimmable (through remote not wall which is clearly stated in the description) alexa compatible, 16m colors, color temp changing and lastly through app (The app i'm not as interested in because i'm not sure how well it will be supported as it ages). Overall, these are full techy features for any modern households. Exactly what i was looking for.

I have just installed several lights from different brands in my home. I was most excited about this one for its features.But horrible design for installation. Size of “box” doesn’t accommodate two sets of romex wires unless you only insert a tiny bit of them which makes it a bit hard to connect it all together. Doable, not not easy to do as. The spring is not strong enough to pull into ceiling if there is any force from existing wires. Pairing with remote was a bit difficult. Took some trial but doable.I’m returning this but will try their other model which has a separate box.

These lights seem great on paper but actually working with them is a whole other story. First, one of the lights arrived broken inside the undamaged box. I contacted the seller, and they sent me a replacement light quickly and without issue - that was appreciated. The replacement light arrived fine.Upon trying to install these, though, the problems started to show. They can be a bit finicky to get installed, even for someone familiar with installing recessed lighting. Once we got them installed, trying to pair them with the app was another tedious endeavor. They never seemed to stay in pairing mode long enough to actually pair with the app, even standing directly under the light with the app searching. After we finally got them paired, then we realized that the dimming feature in the app doesn't work AT ALL, which basically made these completely useless and a waste of money for us. We specifically bought lights that could do RGB and dimming. Now, we've got two lights that are way too bright for the space they're in, and we can't do anything about it.After a couple weeks, one of the lights started to randomly unpair from the app, and the other started to forget the previous day's RGB setting and reset to default. These have been nothing but a hassle, and I'm glad we only installed two for a test-run before installing the rest. I would 100% return them if I could - look elsewhere, especially if you're not extremely tech savvy.

I have mixed feelings about smart lights in general. I don’t really like the idea of needing a smartphone app to adjust my lights, or of buying into one manufacturer’s ecosystem that they could stop supporting at any moment. But having control over the color and brightness of your light is a really useful thing. I like to have dimmer, warmer (reddish) light in the evening when I’m winding down before bed, and brighter, cooler (bluer) light when I’m trying to be active and energized. The Phillips SceneSwitch color changing bulbs are a somewhat neat way of doing that without needing to involve any internet-based technologies. They’re not without their flaws, and you can read my review of that product if you’re interested, but in short they let you cycle between three different modes by flipping the power on and off through an ordinary light switch. But that interface can be a bit annoying in its own way. I also really like the idea of lights that get warmer as they dim with an ordinary dimmer switch. You don’t see that kind very often, though. And neither of those two alternatives gives you complete control to choose an arbitrary color and brightness like this fixture does.As far as installation, these are a substantial improvement over the previous generation from this same manufacturer. The last batch I got from them had to be installed in big metal cans that I didn’t already have in my ceiling and that I rather suspect hampered the Wi-Fi signal to control the lights. These newer ones, in contrast, have a plastic junction box built in. It would have been nice if that junction box were removable to accommodate clearance constrained situations, but if you’ve got a few inches of vertical clearance then this should fit. The diffuser is also much more secure than the previous version — it keeps falling out in one of my four older models, but not here. It’s in there tight!The app is not going to win any awards on user experience, but it mostly works. You can group multiple light fixtures together if you want to set them the same way. Except for some reason the schedule for one of my lights keeps getting disabled. That's really annoying. I kind of wish there were a more generic open-source standard where you don’t have to worry about continued manufacturer support over the years. I like that this new version comes with a remote. In the room where I’ve got the older version installed I’m constantly annoyed at having to pull out my phone, find the app, and fiddle with it to change the illumination levels.If you cut power to them from a light switch and then power them back on, they remember their previous setting. I like that, because I can still use my ordinary light switch and just pull out my phone when I want to adjust the settings. But if you schedule transitions (as if you want bright cool light during the day and dimmer warm light in the evening) then the transition won’t happen if the light is powered off at the wall switch at the scheduled transition time. If it was supposed to go bright at 8AM and you don’t turn the light in until 8:01, it’ll just stay on whatever setting it was when you last turned it off.

These are really nice lights. Colors are bright and bold. Very easy to install with basic electrical knowledge.
