Is it ok to only compound the car and not follow up with wax? I would like to wax it ask well but it ended up getting dark and I ran out of time.

okay ... so "follow up with a polish". What's a "polish"? I get confused with terms like polish, sealer, paint-protectant, conditioner, detailer, cleaner etc. Meguiar's has 100's of different products for car finishes. Be honest, it's all a scam ... isn't it?

Can this be used to remove the thin scratches caused by car key

If the scratches aren't too deep it should work well. I was able to remove probably 85% of the surface scratches on my truck.

I'm repairing a paint chip and a couple scratches. What is the difference between this, rubbing compound and polishing compound?

Paint chip? HOLD ON THERE! Compounding will make your paint chip worse by continuing to peel the paint off where the chip is. Compounds are technically abrasives. Consult a body shop before proceeding!

The description says "8 ounces" but the label says "15.2." Which is correct?

The "8 ounces" would be the weight, half a pound. The "15.2" is incomplete -- it is "15.2 fl oz" -- and indicates the volume, just under a pint.
