Issues: Unreliable Dashboard Interface, You will pay MORE than advertised
This Ooma unit works pretty well but as of Summer 2018 things are starting to go wrong with the service. Sound quality is usually good (every now and then it's not) I did not need the two "Linx" phone jacks at all. I got a cordless AT&T phone system with two handsets (for a good price) that perform the function of the Linx boxes without an additional monthly charge.1st Issue: Ooma's pricing needs to be more transparent and consistent. The "free phone lines" with the system never materialized. Also there was no free 30 day trial. They charged me as soon as they got my credit card number. They should stop the false advertising. I after spending a lot of time reading Ooma's website I bought their system thinking it would be no more than $20 per month. I'm paying $36 per month for two phone lines (that are effectively ONE phone like) and a "virtual" fax number that I can't tie to my real live fax machine.#2: the setup instructions are not clear. Set up wasn't difficult, but because the instructions, especially on the website, do not match sales materials, I wasn't clear if I was finished with setup, and wasn't clear on what choices made during setup were going to cost me. I'm learning by doing because the documentation is lacking.#3. There is something rattling around in one of the Linx units. I don't know how to get it fixed without sending the entire unit back.4th Issue: They took away features, but I’m paying the same amount. Specifically, as of June 2018, you can only be logged into the app for call forwarding on ONE device at a time. This means that you can forward calls to only one device now. No longer is there any flexibility in who covers calls for you.5th and BIGGEST PROBLEM: Ooma’s online dashboard increasingly DOES NOT WORK. 404 Errors come up more than the Dashboard. The links constantly change, or are just broken. I have not been able to reliably send a virtual fax in over a month, so I’ve gone back to faxing the old fashioned way. The webmaster needs to test links when they do updates, and make sure the redirect works.
