Q: How often should this be applied

I think it depends on your nails & what condition they are in. I find that it softens when I wear rubber gloves in hot water to wash up and sometimes just peels off itself, so I end up renewing the odd nail, or part of a nail up to 3 times a day.... sometimes more.

Q: do you need to remove it with special remover?

No normal nail polish remover works fine .
