Does exactly as it says on the box!. Fitted a 4tb drive, and works straight away. Its left on 24/7 and the drive powers off after a while to save power and hdd life. Perfect for external hdd backup drives. Probably not so good for things such as nas and xbox/ps as it does auto power off and there is no way to change that feature. Even under heavy use, the drive and case does not seem to get too warm, with the hdd reporting only 42c (wd blue drive). This can be run from any 12v supply, and i have powered this directly from my pc power supply, and am not using the included mains power supply (i just cut the end off the included psu and use the barrel jack and a 3a in line fuse to one of the molex outputs on my pc psu).

The build seems sturdy and when you plug in the hard drive it stays plugged very firmly, no wiggles. There’s a little blue LED light indicating it’s turned on. Easy to use, just two cables (power to the socket and USB to the PC). I think the top cover is pretty useless as it just traps the heat. Very cheap and effective. You can hear a bit of the noise when the HDD is in use but that’s expected.

It's difficult to know how to rate something which is really just a box with connecting ports, a mains lead and a usb connection. I can't rate the speed, because I discovered that the old hard drive that I'd removed from a defunct computer many years ago had been successfully re-formatted, and didn't contain the treasure trove of old photos that I'd been hoping for. Nevertheless, it's neat, it does the job and I feel confident that it will do the job as intended. If I need to, I can now use it as a back-up hard drive for my Humax Freesat box.

It works well. However, if you are intending to use it for migration and your disk is encrypted. decrypt it before moving it to the enclosure.

Exactly what I needed at a reasonable price.

Had to return as it was not fit for use in a series x, sleep function would enable when in game which causes a stutter when the drive spins back up, also noticed my xbox being a bit slower when i had it plugged in since it keeps sleeping, and then ramping back up. Do yourself a favor and get a usb to sata with a 12v port, and use that instead.

Stopped turning on after a month.

Habe eine alte 2TB-Seagate eingebaut, die in einem bestimmt schon 10 Jahren alten Medion-Gehäuse enthalten war. Damals bei Aldi gekauft. Beim Medion-Gehäuse funktionierte der Controller plötzlich nicht mehr. Und hier in diesem neuen Gehäuse bringt die betagte Seagate beim Schreiben immerhin noch so um die maximal 1,2 Gbit/s (pendelt sich bei z. B. Backups meist so ein bei ca. 500 bis 800 Mbit/s. Sehr gutes Gehäuse jedenfalls. Mit USB-C. Und der Schalter daran ist ebenfalls praktisch. Kann ich nur empfehlen. P.S.: nutze das Gehäuse gleichzeitig als Monitorerhöhung...;)
