It worked for me - eventually
Our garage was home to a family of mice judging from the droppings so we needed something to encourage them to leave. I have wild bird seed in the area and this was a regular target for the little so and so's. When the gadget arrived I read through the instructions that explained the various controls (including a night light - presumably not for the mice to use!) and advising that if the mice had young ones they would not move until they had matured. This is an update three years after purchase. We haven't had any instances of mice nesting in our garage just an odd occasion where there was evidence of them gnawing some holes in a paper sack which had a few remnants of wild bird seed.As long as you make sure any food source (i.e. Bird seed) is in a suitable container this device seems to work well, I occasionally check the audible test button to make sure it's working.I sited the device in a socket above my garage work top having cleared the vicinity of droppings and opposite where bird seed is kept. Result (and why I rated 5 stars) - the next morning there were no droppings and there has been no sign of mouse activity since, it has now been 6 days since the PestBye was in situ and so far it has kept the area - as far as I can see, free from infestation. The device itself appears well made, I particularly like the test button otherwise how would you know if it was not working? And LED's give a reasuring blink to let you know it's 'on guard'. I don't know why some people find it doesn't work maybe it's down to the siting or perhaps some mice are more susceptable than others but whatever it has to be better than killing them.A month on and a close encounter with Roger the rodent later and all is well....... Except! I hadn't realised Roger and family had taken up residence in a box of grass seed, so after making this discovery and removing box, family (minus Roger) to a carefully chosen location in the garden (not my garden, Hee, hee)I waited to see what would happen. After a couple of sightings of a lonely looking Roger he has left and there are no signs of him anywhere so I think the Pest-Bye is working as it seems to make the area uncomfortable for the mice to remain in - as long as a. all traces of food are secured and b. the family are grown and ready to leave their nest.PS Roger and family have now been re-housed by a kind neighbour :)

Misleading description
This pest repeller is advertised on the basis that it will protect a 4 bed house. We have a problem with mice or, most likely, rats scurrying within the wall cavities and loft areas within the house, i.e. behind solid walls and ceilings. Being a terraced house with interconnecting cavities and lofts, the rodents have spread to adjacent properties. The instructions acknowledge that the ultrasound function, the only feature of this device which has any, albeit limited, credibility, will only be effective if it is located in the same room as the pest, it wont travel through solid objects. Rodents will remain comfortable behind their ultrasound proofed, inaccessible to humans, living quarters. So no full house cover here then. The electro-magnetic interference feature is scientifically regarded as being highly unlikely to be effective, and remains unproven in any properly conducted field tests. The instructions note that the manufacturers believe that the elector magnetic waves in the house wiring (providing they are within 3 feet of the wires) creates an environment which prevents rodents nesting and drives them out of the house.I have no intention of leaving my uninvited visitors to enjoy the peace and quiet of my home, setting up their own love nests within its walls and free to breed outside the 3 foot electro-magnetic exclusion zone. I will try and find out how they've got into the house, order a pack of rat traps and poison to exterminate them and make sure there are no unprotected areas of the house where they could get in again.Currently, inspection has revealed that the most likely way they got in was through a worn and damaged redundant sewage pipe beneath the house, unused since our kitchen was extended more than 25 years ago. I have returned the pest repeller, which was not a good idea, and put the refund towards paying for the pipe to be repaired.

Works with limitations!
I purchased PestBye Advanced Whole House Mouse Repellent device, as living in a location adjacent to fields, we could hear mice in the attic at night around autumn onwards disturbing us. It’s important to mention that the device has 2 settings - one for such things as insects and the other for rodents such as mice. I set it to the rodents setting and left it in the attic on since then - it’s been on for about a year and half. I found that it worked as initially the mouse activity stopped within a day or two whereas previously the noises had continued for months during winter. However, a few observations – its capability is limited in distance and it works very localised certainly not the whole house.I know this as I also had mice under the floor boards later in the year which I got rid of through finding the hole they were getting in from. Next Autumn I could hear mice in the attic again but at a different location. I then found the hole they were getting in from and also moved the device and have not heard any mice for the last two months. I did find a wasp nest which was not there previously proving that the rodent setting does not deter insects. The manufacturer also claims that it emits a non-audible noise through the house wiring which also acts as a deterrent. I found no evidence of this as the mice under the floor boards had not been deterred! I understand it uses about 5-6W of power consumption although I have not measured it.I would still recommend the device as it did help get rid of the mice.
