It's durable.
Have had this item for 5 years now. Daily use, constantly using it to fidget. Unlike a lot of other trainers, this one hasn't broken. Two parts have "broken" but were very easy to fix:The locking mechanism at the bottomThe stopper at the top - tiny metal insert you can simply glue and shove back inThe only "problem" I have with this is that it's noisy but, it's a solid metal butterfly trainer so that's to be expected. I only see this as a problem as I fidget at night while watching shows and the walls are thin in my home.Absolutely recommend. This was the first of many trainers I bought and it's lasted me a long time.

how is this legal? it's so thick and strong, with a little sharpening it could be a real knife!
this is really strong - very well made, very heavy and solid. it comes with an awesome fabric case and has beautiful design.however, i am a little concerned by just how strong it is. if i had a little patience and a whetstone, i could easily sharpen its blade to be a proper knife - am genuinely surprised selling something like this is legal.but if you want one of these, i don't think you will find better quality at a better price. If you do choose to buy this, do note that you should oil the pivots. you can use any oil, i used olive oil. The weight is the only reason i am not giving a 5 star as if it slips and hits you or your fingers it will hurt. but for beginners like myself I would reccomend this to someone.

Pretty good training knife!
I've never used a butterfly knife before, and so I chose this one as my introduction to using them, and overall, I'm happy with the product! It came in it's own little case, and the pattern and overall look of the knife it pretty cool! I've been using it for a few days, and while it sticks slightly when spinning, the durability seems solid, and It doesn't rattle yet! I would recommend maybe loosening the screws or using WD40 to make it smoother, but overall, pretty good starter knife!

Perfect for beginners
I have been using balisongs for years and this surpasses any beginners balisongs I have had experience with.Pros:- Durable, beginners will drop this plenty without breaking it.- Amazing quality-to-cost ratio, you're getting great quality at a cheap price.- Stunning design, most cheap options are solid colour and bland - this has a beautiful dragon engraving.- Has a functioning latch! Many cheap options also do not.- Long lasting hinge, both of mine still work after several years of use and dropping- You won't hurt yourself with it, it's a trainer!Cons:- May require cleaning, comes out of the box a little bit stiff. Give it a quick clean and perhaps learn some basic tricks with it and it should be good to go.Perfect option for beginners, someone interested in balisongs, sleight of hand training, or even just display!

Okay purchase, don't really think it worth the price
Generally good, nice texture and I love the dragon patterns. Bad things about this is that I think the handles are bit heavy for flipping and donno is it just me, the handle play hit on the second day when I got this trainer.I had it for a few days now, the edges of the handles and the edges of the trainer blade are pretty sharp actually, they hurt my thumb and index when I'm doing helix and behind the eight ball stuff, the momentum doesn't carry on well, which means combo can not be done smoothly. If you are a beginner, go for it, good to have a heavy start for doing simple tricks, but if you are an advanced flipper, don't buy it, it will waste your money. I was desperate to practice, because I forgot to bring my trainer to UK.

looks good and initially flipped fairly well
This trainer was well priced and arrived quickly, looks good and initially flipped fairly well.Straight out of the box, this thing flipped very nicely, however after about a week, it started to seize up and became almost impossible to open properly. Thankfully after a few days, this went away and it flipped nicely again. The handle play was, for about a month, very acceptable, however shortly after the trainer started squeaking, the handle play began to increase and now, after roughly two months of fairly heavy use, the handle play is about the width of a single handle. It's not something which is too troubling, however it doesn't help improve the experience. Nor does the squeaking. The spring latch worked very well for about a month, until the tang pins started pinching and latching it open didn't work. Shortly afterwards, using the latch while it was closed stopped working too. However this didn't matter for very long because the latch broke completely. Thankfully I had planned on removing it anyway, so that just saved me the job of doing so.+ the price+ the first month of use+ the design- the qualityoverall, if you are getting started, as I am, for the low price, it is worth buying

... reviews are positive but one or two weren't that great. However
I wasn't really sure what to expect because most of the reviews are positive but one or two weren't that great. However, as my first balisong it's fantastic and is built to last. I've dropped mine a fair few times and flipped it almost everyday since receiving it and it's still undamaged. The play on the handle is as good as new. The spring latch has loosened a little bit but I prefer it that was as it was a little too stiff for me at first. If you're in two minds about buying it, just do it you won't regret it honestly
