Easy to use
I paid extra for a head torch to use at work. This Pixa3 has been excellent so far, the three light settings are about perfect, low being just enough to work with something in your hands or light your path when its pitch black. If low were brighter it would simply use the battery quicker so this is perfect with a circular light pattern and even light. The middle and high settings are for lughting things further away maybe when cycling or running, the three light levels are about perfect for me. Slightly heavy but thats the build quality so I'm happy with that. The strap is comfortable and when I wear it I do forget its on my head!So pricey but excellent quality and design.

Buy the best you can.
There's a reason that Petzl is the go-to brand for both professional and recreational users; they make well designed products that withstand the rigours of constant use and can be relied upon.I chose this particular torch for the following reasons;- The PIXA range is aimed at professional users and has the build quality to withstand a lot of abuse.- Range of lighting modes, covering both close-up working and longer range viewing.- Uses easily available AA batteries. Will work with alkaline, NiMH or lithium, so lots of flexibility.- Can be taken off the head-strap or helmet mount and will stand up on own as a worklight.- Nice big power/mode switch that can be easily operated, even with heavy gloves on.- IP67 rating, so handles water and dust with ease.- ATEX rated, handy as sometimes required for work. The three lighting modes are great - a lower power with a nice even spread for close-up work, without being dazzled. A brighter, mixed mode for movement that gives you both close-in pool to avoid stuff underfoot and a longer beam so you can see where you're going. And finally a really bright, long-range beam for picking out things in the distance.A couple of other nice touches are the way the torch head can be rotated 180deg back on itself for storage, to both protect the lens and lock out the power switch to avoid accidental switch on and also that when the batteries are nearly dead, the torch (instead of plunging you into darkness) switches into a low-power reserve mode that still gives you enough light to either locate new batteries in your pack or get to safety.

Perfect, especially if you wear glasses
Great headlamp. Really nice and bright, with two things that make it really worth the extra money. First, if you wear glasses a lot of other headlamps sit too close to your head, and you get reflections in your glasses when you angle them downwards. The second special feature is that the knob to turn on and off and change brightness is big, which means you can operate it easily, even with gloves on.Apart from that it's really rugged, and pretty comfy. Have already bought a second one.

Great Product
Petzl Pixa 3 Headlamp is top notch . I use it mostly at work on ships attached to a Petzl Vertex helmet if working night shift & its superb .Plus its robust while i am crawling about trying to repair my equipment on the back deck of a ship.Great purchase for me & really good with the 3 light settings & being IP67 rated can withstand the harsh North Sea in winter & handy that it uses 2 AA batteries that can be got by nearly every department on board a ship for free.

Great durability, uniform light, but heavy
The three levels of light are great for proximity work, walking and for looking into distance. I use only the rubber strap, it has to be pretty tight to be stable, but then it's not comfortable. I'd welcome a stripe that would run over the top of the head. It's certainly unsuitable for active sports, but I used it for for camping where it's dependable and robust. I'd say it's best when mounted on a helmet, but I don't use one.The light also has noticeable flickering, but I'm sensitive to that, other people say the don't see anything.

Drained Battery Quicker Compare to Older Models.
Excellent quality. But I think drain the battery quickly. I used EBL 2800mAh still doesn't last long. Maybe because dual LED. Apart from that all fine.Review update:After few months of using. This is not that great as the original pixa. This is a downgrade of all of them. Most torches improvement is to make battery last longer without affecting the brightness. But this is totally opposite. This is consuming a lot of energy so it will cost you on batteries or if it is rechargeable you need to recharge them more frequent. I don't recommend this. It is a waste of money. Not good for its price. Too expensive. There are few competitors also making ex type torch which is a lot cheaper and better.

DONT WORK IN THE DARK
We get into some dark holes and there is zero light so we need a long lasting bright adjustable head torch and the Petzel is the best value for money there is, all of us have rechargeable batteries and a set lasts all day. There are adjustable settings on the amount of light and the torch swivels to make working in tight spaces easier. We don't buy anything else. As they say in Europe the British are bright sparks when it comes to work.
