GREAT collar for my sneaky cat.
This collar is great. It doesn't fall apart like many of the other ones do. The attachment method are small pronged pegs that snap into corresponding holes. The attachment method makes it very easy for ME to get the collar on and off, but my cat can't get it off (thank goodness). The binding at the top and around the neck area keep the animal comfortable and also keeps my cat from being able to use the collar's outside edge as a weapon against himself and me. The small size works well for my cat around his neck, but I'm going to try the medium size and see if it also works and hopefully gives a little extra length to keep him from sneaking a lick at his paw (since he is a contortionist). Best collar yet (and I've tried at least 4 other types.

So far so good, just the right size for the neck of my 10 lb cat. The only gripe I have with it is that it's not long enough to prevent her licking her stomach (her old cone had the same problem), so I have to take a second recovery collar from the vet and put it on over this one. I'd stick with that collar, but it doesn't have the snaps like this does and she's able to get it off when it's on its own.The reason I replaced my old cone was that the little snaps that keep the cone on kept popping off. I don't foresee an issue with that with this cone, as they're quite tight, so tight it's a bit difficult to get them snapped. But once on, this cone will definitely STAY on. There's also a nice little comfort strip along the neckline so it wont dig into your pet's neck.

If you have a longer dog ie: Dachshund/Long Terrier/Wiener Mix
2 of my little dogs got fixed and these worked well. The only thing I'd note is if you have a wiener dog/ dachshund or a long terrier breed you may wanna go with something a little larger in the cone, not the neck fit. My Chiweenie was able to move her neck to reach her stitches just barely, but she is a mix so I imagine full length ones may have an easier time. We had to watch her really closely even with this on. The cone stopped our small Chihuahua from reaching his stitches, so it works great on dogs that don't have that added length. But just be aware if you have a longer dog you probably will need to buy one of the big cones elsewhere. :)

Not easy to put on
Difficult to get on a small pet - the snaps make the stay firm - but the process of getting this collar on properly is cumbersome and my cat freaked - not good after surgery. we switched to a velcro version. NOT what we wanted but less upsetting to my pet. No I would not recommend this after surgery.

Don't get it
I bought this for my cat (a proud 13 pounder) who sustained an injury on his shoulder blade and kept licking the spot to an open wound. He started freaking out the second we put the collar on him and was trying to get it off. He couldn't eat or drink with it on because it is so big and getting it on and off is certainly not easy...one of the plastic snaps broke off the first time we put it on. We also tried to put it on the other way, where it would sit like a little coat...that didn't work out well at all. He managed to get up on the couch, but when we tried to jump off he couldn't get his legs in landing position because the collar was in the way and the poor thing landed on his face...wasn't happy at all.We ended up cutting out a "custom" collar from a gift box and he is now a happy cat. He can eat, drink, run around, jump around, clean his tail but he still can't get to his wound so it can now heal in peace. Please try to be more innovative before buying this for your cat. I'm sure it's a good product if you keep the cat in a cage and make sure you add water to all the meals (remember, they can't drink with the collar on), but for a cat that's still free to roam around the house, I would certainly not recommend it.

collar review
if your buying this for a dog then you'll probably have better luck with it then if you were to buy it for a cat. i bought it for my cat thinking that the the smallest size would fit. the smallest size did fit but was a tiny bit to tight and to long even after i set the neck size to the biggest. the cone is also a little to long for a cat so it will prevent them for eating and even getting into their litter box if its the kind with a little door. for this to work i had to basically cut a few inches off of it so my cat could eat and etc. i also had to use safety pins to increase the size of the neck not that i necessarily needed to but it was too snug and i made it more comfortable. this product works if your willing to do very minor customizing IF YOUR USING IT FOR A CAT. i cant say if its good for dogs because i dont own a dog. the problem with all these kinds of collars is that they make them primarily for dogs and not cats which is a huge issue. SO IF YOUR BUYING THIS FOR A CAT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WHAT I WROTE ABOVE!!!!!!!! all-in-all it can work if your willing to work with it

These collars are much better than the one my vet gave us
These collars are much better than the one my vet gave us. The soft edges help keep the skin from irritation. Our kitty needed to wear a "cone" for about 5 weeks (leg surgery) so I needed something soft on the edge and durable. Worked very well! Now that she's recovered, I keep it on hand in case we need it again. Easy to clean and adjust.
