Scale and Colour Finder Selection - Set of 5 Finders

This is an amazing collection of art tools. They were shipped extremely quickly and I received them days earlier than expected (thank you seller).I am very impressed by the quality, they are made from quality plastic with fairly clear plastic windows, you can see all that is needed and they are accurate. They will definately be very useful accessories for me and I highly recommended these to everyone at any level.

I have had the Picture Finder on its own for a while and found it a revelation in the ease of finding a good composition in a scene. So I thought I'd get the rest of the Finder tools as well. They have just arrived, and I am pleased with them all, with the exception of the colour finder. The Tonal Value Finder is semi-transparent in the values, which I hadn't expected, but this might be useful. The Scale Finder is good for getting relative proportions right, but I quite like to develop an eye for this by myself, so it depends on your style of painting. The Perspective Finder is a very useful tool especially for urban sketchers, I would imagine, and since it's a flexible plastic card, it can come along in a pocket. With the exception of the Colour Finder, all are made of flexible partly transparent plastic, which makes them quite sturdy and robust. And then there is the Colour Finder - which is made of a thin sheet of cardboard, one side glossy, the other not, and is basically a minimalist colour wheel, and not a good one at that. If it was at least also a plastic sheet, it could be carried around like the others, but it isn't. If only it had some transparent parts, so that you could hold it up next to a colour for direct comparison, but no. For adding a good colour wheel to the set to carry around, it might be better to print out a colour wheel from the internet and laminate that. However, the other four make up for this and I'm happy with the Finders overall. They are an excellent, practical aid and a good thing to have in your equipment box or in your pocket when you go out sketching.

Fabulous value for money - everything you need to help your sketching and painting skills. The scale finder helps you scale your scene up or down, while keeping all the elements in proportion, and helps also with copying a photograph. The view finder assists in composing your scene, and the perspective finder helps with what can be one of the most tricky aspects of drawing - keeping the perspective of all the elements in your scene in the right perspective. I'm finding the perspective finder invaluable in making sure all the lines on my buildings etc. are all going at the right angle.Add in the tonal value finder (often forgotten about in sketching and painting), which shows the relative tones of different elements in your scene, making the difference between a 'flat' painting and a more realistic one, and the colour finder (basic colour wheel which gives a reminder of the primary and secondary colours, complimentary colours, and basic colour mixing), and you have everything you need to help improve your sketching and painting. With the exception of the colour finder, which is a fairly thick card, all the other items in this set are plastic, so I'm hoping will be quite robust.I've seen just one of these drawing/painting aids priced at more than the price of this set though, so even if they don't last forever, at this price you can't go wrong.

A bit small for my needs

A useful little kit for any novis. This was a well received gift for someone who was learning how to draw & paint & has found this Art Finder Collection a very useful part of their learning. You recieve 5 different cards which all helped to improve their drawing & painting skills. Recommend.

Not as good as expected. The tonal finder is absolutely useless. For me, it was only worth the perspective finder, a really bugbear of mine.Quality though was not bad, it's printed clearly on acetate.

A must have For the Beginners like me. Starting out in my 50’s, having been told I cannot draw at school, I am finding this, combined with books, to have given me a new lease of life with drawing. Thank you so much!!!

HiReceived these the other day, they always look bigger on amazon site! I haven't started using them as yet, but they are made out of some sort of ridged material (a plastic of some sort, I think?). They look as if they will last some time.I had a quick look at the instructions on each item, some of it wasn't quite apparent, but when I start to use them, especially the perspective and scale aid, it might become more apparent?Other than that, pleased with products.

These are helpful and handy little visualization tools. They arrived from England to Alaska in a reasonable time period. You get a lot of tools for the cost. They are flexible plastic- maybe like a triple thick overhead transparency weight? but neither flimsy or too heavy. Appropriate. And will last a good while if cared for reasonably.There are also a number of different tools in this set, with some basic instruction for the use of each. You'll likely find them handy if you're looking to up your artist skills. I'd buy them again for the price.

The value finder should go from 0% white to 100% black.Yet it goes from transparent, to dark gray transparent. So not only do I have a number of inks that are darker than the darkest Value. But it also fails if the paper is anything but white or if you hold it up in the air trying to align it with the reference.The color wheel has Purple written, but the color on it is blue.Perspective finder and Picture finder have too small windows and far too much space wasted on text.
