Unstable product, you get what you paid for
I got these 4-inch recessed lights because they seemed like a good deal, they have RGB colors and only cost around $25, while a Philips Hue White Ambiance would cost $35, and only changes between different shades of white. However, after testing them for a few days, I returned them and got the Philips instead, the differences are quite obvious.1. It is important to note that the diameter of the Lumary downlight is significantly smaller than the Hue. The Hue is 5.4 inches in diameter, with a light-up area that's almost 4-inches in diameter; the Lumary, on the other hand, is less than 5 inches wide, with a roughly 4-inch light-up area.2. The Lumary also has more glare when compared to Hue. Also, the colors tend to seem a little bit off, when set to a cold white it has a slight purple undertone in it; it's very subtle but you'll notice if you have Hue bulbs in the same room.3. My biggest complain is that it's very unstable when turned on and off with a regular switch. Every now and then we'd want to switch the lights off with an old fashioned wall switch, and 5% of the time, when you switch back on, the Lumary lost its memory and starts blinking, so it has to be deleted in the app and configured again. This is extremely annoying. We only have 4 of them right now, imagine having them throughout the entire house. And even if you can stick to only control them with the app or Alexa, you'll occasionally run into power outages - imagine having to setup 20+ of these every now and then...So overall, I'd say they do work most of the time, but to me, it's not worth the time and effort to mess with them. I'd go with a cheaper non-smart light, or a more expensive Hue, both are better options.

Do you get what you pay for???
We hear it often particularly here on Amazon. "well you get what you pay for" at 100 plus dollars for 4 lights Im not sure I did actually. Look we know the Phillips brand is OVERPRICED. They were in this 'smart' space first and using them you likely won't have issues with them as you do with all these other pop up brands and still, I say the entire line is charging more than what's reasonable in my opinion. Sengled has been a great sensible alternative for our home. Its affordable and I've had 0 issues! The app needs work for sure but beggars can't be choosers and I'm just connecting to Google anyway. If Sengled made recessed can lights I would RUN to replace everyone in my home with them! I was close to doing so with this company because initially I thought I found another diamond in the rough, but unfortunately that was not the case. I purchased 4 to test in my studio space. Initially the lights worked fine, setup was easy enough and the installation was as well. 2 months later, light 3 went offline randomly and permanently. Its only faded icon in the app now like a ghost of itself and no it doesn't turn on. I wasn't gonna trip about it though, I would just wait a while and eventually buy another to replace it 3 out of 4 aint bad, right? Well 2 weeks ago a second light has failed to come on, this time the app still says its there and on, but it is not. So now I have essentially purchased 2 lights for 100 bucks, so as it stands, I could've just bought the Phillips! Honestly the two lights are enough to effectively light my space, so Ive just been kind of dealing with it, yet I fear its only a matter time before the others go out and Im stuck having paid 100 plus bucks for nothing. Further the removal of these is going to be a nightmare. Ive played with the one long enough to know. The ones I replaced EASILY pulled out and was secured by a spring loaded tab. These have metal tab basically digging into the housing, you are supposed to be able to twist it out but that is proving to be difficult. Best case if the other lights remain this is still not a 50/50 chance I would take again.

What no one talks about
Searched for months for a “reasonable” alternative to the highly. Overpriced Philips lights. Found these and decided to add them to my remodel which includes 42 new can lights. My concern was going to be programming them. Do you have to do them one at a time? If you do them as a group and one doesn’t take do you have to start over? These questions and many others lead me to do hours of YouTube research and no one discusses those issues. Let me break down the installation process and it’s simplest form for those of you curious how to do it. All I did was install all the lights. Turned the switch on per group, and they all start flashing. Not all of them will sync up on the app when you start adding them. The easy part is any that don’t add, when you turn the lights back on will be the only ones still flashing and you can add them at that point. Super easy install, there were a few lights that took several times before they would add to the app but overall couldn’t be more pleased with these lights. Highly recommend. Time will tell about their longevity.

They constantly forget their color and brightness
I bought a couple of these to try. They are on a regular light switch (not a dimmer as they aren’t designed for dimmer switches). I always set them to Warm White at 100% brightness, but…1-2 times a week, one or the other will turn on at cold white instead of warm. Other times they turn on dimmed instead of 100% brightness. This happened more frequently over time. Note that if you turn the light off with the app, they continue to glow at a very low level, so you must have them on a light switch in order to turn them full-off (but then you can’t turn them on again with your app, by schedules, or your voice assistant). Although they can respond to music played on your phone, it stops the moment your phone screen turns off/locks. I ended up replacing them with dimmable led lights. The outer appearance looked fantastic, they are very bright at 100% brightness, and the colors are very bold, but they aren’t very reliable as a light.

2nd company I purchased down lights from that has had issues
Light is already going out after one week. It will only show a yellow light nothing else. The brightness on the others is no good
