Are they approved to contain food products?

The listing says they are made from HDPE plastic however the travel kit set I have is actually a mixture of HDPE (60/30ml coloured lids) LDPE (125ml transparent lids) and PP (wide 30ml). I have used them for food in the past without checking (eek), they do not have the food safe logo on. (Nalgene is the brand not the material). A quick google states that the plastics in their virgin state are all food safe. I also called the UK distributor of Nalgene to check, and they confirmed for me that the items in the travel kit are all food safe. Hope that helps ..

Yes - they are made from HDPE, LDPE and PP. all three plastics are BPA free. I also spoke to the UK distributor to check and they confirm they are food safe. Hope that helps.

Would you be able to use these bottles for mouthwash for example?

Yes, I use them for a mix of toiletries (mouthwash, shower gel, shampoo, etc). They're nalgene so can be sterilised like babies bottles if needed. The ones with the flip spout lid would be fine for mouthwash...Quick squirt and scoosh...

Are these dishwasher safe?

Yes I have put mine in the dishwasher many time, and they really don't leak!
