Excellent addition to my Sony A6700
I'd already bought the Sigma amount lenses .... 56 mm , 16mm and 18-50mm zoom for my Sony A6700 but I wanted to complete the set largely to help with Street and Portrait photography. I've grown to trust this brand. They're not the cheapest of lenses but equally not the most expensive but the build quality and picture capture quality is just brilliant for me. All are very good size wise and quite compact and they work seamlessly with the A6700 and the auto focus compatibility is excellent. I would highly recommend Sigma lenses for anyone who wants to capture great shots at a very good price

Great mid level lens for small packages
It's sigma so it feels great, looks great and shoots great. Paired with a Sony ZVE-10 is a perfect small form factor power house. 30mm is a really nice happy medium for everyday shooting both lifestyle and portrait stuff. Auto focus is immediate. It really is hard to take bad photos with this lens. Small, light and well priced highly recommended for the a6k series or Zv series

Fantastic APS-C lens but AVOID with the A6000, known AF issues.
A fantastic APS-C lens, I took great photos with my A6000 but had to return it as I later found out it has AF issues with the A6000. I had moments where I just couldn't get the camera to focus on the right thing but then realised it was using certain settings, smaller apertures from memory. It felt good on the A6000 anyway and was a good size but not huge. I'd highly recommend it assuming no issues with your particular camera.

Upgrade to kit lens
After lots of reviews and YouTube videos looking at a lens to upgrade from the 18-50mm kit lens, I decided to go for the 30mm 1.4 sigma prime and all I can say is WOW. This is the fastest apature lens I've ever owned and I can say the difference from the kit lens 3.5 apature to 1.4 is incredible. I chose the 30mm as its the cheapest of a the 3 sigma primes and is the best all round for me. It works perfect with my Sony A6400 and I have had no issues with auto focus like in some reviews. This really does take your photos to a different level. The fast apature makes low light photos much easier and in good light allows you to bump your shutter speed to collect sharp images. The only thing I have noticed is its noiser than the kit lens when auto focusing but for me that's being picky and as I don't do a ton of videos it's no issue. I'd highly recommend this lens as an upgrade from the kit lens.

Amazing picture quality and form factor, mediocre autofocus
Bought this lens for my Sony A6300 a few months ago. Using it for both photo and video but primarily video. It's nicely built as we've come to expect from Sigma's Art and Contemporary series. The picture quality is amazing, really sharp and the contrast & colors are very pleasing and natural to look at. Not quite on the Sigma Art level but certainly close which is amazing given the price. Like mentioned by many others, it's great in lowlight with a minimum aperture of 1.4 or if you simply want that shallow depth of field look. Sharp all the way through pretty much, I mainly shoot between 2.0 and f 11. The only flack I can give it is the autofocus which I'm surprised many Youtubers reviewing it, haven't talked about more often. It is pretty jumpy and hunts quite a bit when filming lower lit scenes or fast camera movements. It's not terrible but the main problem is that it is hunting a lot, so going back and forth when looking for the point to focus on. This means it can mess up some shots completely in certain situations as it is pretty jarring. I've tried to update the firmware and change/adjust my focus settings but it didn't improve by much. Concluding I would say this is a great portrait lens and amazing to film experimental or very controlled scenes (like low budget music videos, interviews or short films) with. Any run and gun stuff where autocus can be really important, I would use it sparingly. Picture quality & look are fantastic, build quality is top notch. Overall, a really nice product!

Good value for money, a must have
As I spent my learnign months using only the sony a6000 kit lens (zoom lens) I needed a new lens. After research on quality and price check this seemed to be a good lens that matched my expectations. And it is what I expected from it. Using only zoom lens for a year, it was a challenge to try this one. But being a prime lens with a large aperture of 1.4 it helped me better integrate in my instincts how the aperture and distance from the subject in focus affect the look of the bokeh. The warm tones, the clarity and overall performace at high and low aperture make this is must have for any beginner or even for other pro photographers as well. To me Sigma is now a company I can trust and I am thrilled for my new purchase when I will afford to upgrade my gear.

Suberb prime lens
I almost regreted my choice prior to delivery thinking the Sony 35mm 1.8 lens might have been the better choice. Now the Sigma has arrived I am pleased to say it is superb. Firstly the reviews, although very good, point out the fact that oss is not availabe for this lens unlike the sony lens. Also the sigma is noisy when auto focusing. Considering I wanted a lens that deals with low light in video as well as stills I had concerns aboit my choice. I need not have worried. On video, the lack of oss seems to make little difference. Just be aware, work smoothly or simply support the camera where possible. But then isnt that just old school common sense, dating back to when image stabalization didnt exist ?? And as far as auto focus motor noise. No more or less than my sony lenses, ie kit, pancake and 18-200. I noticed the latest firmware is already installed which maybe addresses some of the negatives on some reviews. All I can say is absolutely no regrets with this gem of a lens. Its fast crisp superb for low light and portrait. And its 30mm instead of sonys 35 which makes it more useable for general use, getting that extra bit more into the frame when needed. To conclude no regrets from me 👍

An meiner Sony NEX 6...
