Life saver
This is a good buy, its saves lives but the accuracy can be abit off. If i tske a temp now and gain 2secs later the readings are different no majorly like it may read 36.4 and 2secs later its 36.7 its like that. The reading gives you a round a bout tempreture which isnt too bad plus the temps are colour coded. It goes from green, amber to red the accuracy doesnt jump warning colours which is good in whatever range your babys temp is it will stsy but just flucturate abit. I love this product irs with me all the time, so handy for a life saving tool i recommend you get one but there are so much to choise from i found this to work wonders

The product is very robust and easy to use (ergonomic)
With a new baby on the way any day now (granddaughter), we decided it was time to purchase a new thermometer. This thermometer is a fairly new product and wasn't available when we purchased our last thermometer. The product is very robust and easy to use (ergonomic). Takes two AA sized batteries (included). With amazon prime the product was delivered approximately 20 hours after the order was placed, in our case by royal mail tracked delivery, with tracking information available one hour after the order was placed. The item arrived undamaged. The packaging itself consists of a windowed cardboard box with the opening edge sealed with a sticker. Inside the thermometer is enclosed in a plastic clamshell and is easily opened. also enclosed is a quick start guide, a more detailed product manual and the aforementioned batteries. There is also a sturdy plastic cap to cover the sensor, which the instructions indicate would be fitted to the unit but which was loose in the box in our case. The batteries are fitted by removing a slide off plastic door. inside the battery bay is a two position dip switch to select between Celsius or Fahrenheit measurements. The batteries do not come fitted. We were supplied with maxell branded batteries. after fitting the batteries you can use a sliding switch on the left hand side of the product to select whether you want the product to work silently or issue an audible beep when operating. on/off operation is via a push button switch on the face of the unit, located just above the Braun logo. Don't forget to remove the plastic cap that protects the sensor - it simply pushes into place, it's a tension fit, there's no clips to break or anything that would retain the cover in place. after switching the unit on it's ready for operation immediately, also It can take multiple readings in rapid succession, unlike our in-ear thermometer which for some bizarre reasons requires 30-60 seconds between readings - as the button used to take a reading will start cycling through the memory until a certain amount of time has elapsed. After switching on you press the large blue temperature button to take a reading, the screen then displays a prompt to place the unit 0-5 cm from the reading site (0 cm being "in contact" with the site) - if the unit is at the appropriate distance then a reading will be taken within 2 seconds. When the button has been pressed a light is projected to illuminate the reading site - it is bright but not unpleasantly so. I've noticed no difference in readings that were taken second apart on the same person where the unit was in contact with the site, or whether it was at a distance. When on a backlight on the screen adjusts to one of three colours after taking a reading; green to indicate a normal temperature. amber to indicate a borderline-fever temperature. red to indicate a fever temperature. It Is important to note that the backlight colouring is based on temperature norms for an individual of age 3 years to adult - norms for babies are different to adults. I have not read the manual in any great depth to ascertain whether the differences are explained in the literature but this information Is readily available online. Also it is important to note, as explained in the literature, that no warning Is provided for a hypothermic temperature (low temperature) - however if such a reading is detected the backlight will remain off when displaying a reading. Additionally if there is an error in taking a reading an error warning Is displayed and the backlight turns red. I cannot think of any negative aspects which should be mentioned. An additional benefit of this unit over an in-ear thermometer is the absence of a requirement for ongoing costs in the form of lens filters and the ability to prevent cross-infection through the facility to use the unit in a non-contact mode. In summary this product Is robust, easy to use and comes with appropriate guidance to be utilised correctly. I would definitely consider it a worthwhile candidate for anyone in the market for a thermometer for use in the home environment

The Worst Thermometer I Own
Having kids, I have ended up with quite a few thermometers in my possession. Being a Braun branded, I trusted this to be the best of the lot, but unfortunately it is grossly inaccurate and inconsistent. The reading is always high and it jumps around all over the place, I have other contactless thermometers, in-ear ones and even a more reliable under the armpit digital one, all of those are fairly calibrated with one another, some better than others. But the Braun is always like 2 degrees higher and seems to always indicate a fever even when there is no illness. I would avoid this one and recommend something like the Yuwell instead.

Great and simple way of taking the little one's temp
Construction: Sturdy and well made. It fits comfortably in the hand. The cover to keep the temperature probe clean is a great idea (just make sure you take it off before using. Features: Pros: Clear and bright LCD screen which colour codes the temperature green, amber or red for easy when to panic decisions! A no beep mode, for those tykes who have hypersonic hearing when they sleep. Cons: no Fahrenheit mode only Celsius. This works for me but my wife is more familiar with Fahrenheit so an ability to swap between the two measurements would help. Operation: Pros: intuitive design means easy to take the reading at 4am in darkness with your eyes barely open. Can hold it around 5cm away from the forehead so no waking up the little one. Cons: uses light to take the temperature reading. It's a dull orange/yellow light so hasn't been an issue for us but it depends how sensitive your child will be to light. Because the temperature is measured from the surface of the skin it can vary wildly across the body, even just across the forehead. The instructions state that the reading should be taken from between the persons eyes. We had readings ranging from 37.6 to 38.2! In conclusion I would recommend this thermometer over those tricky armpit groin ones because its alot easier to use. Also no sticking on the ear- especially useful in those with an ear infection! Just beware the variation in readings

Fantastic - strongly recommended for parents with young children. Worth the extra cost.
This is a really fantastic product, so easy to use and perfect for working with young children! I strongly recommend it to all parents of young children. The description tells you what it does, but I can tell you that it works well, is easy to use and seems well designed for the hand. I have used it with my 2 year old and 4 year old, the younger of which hated in-ear IR thermometers and neither of which will generally sit still long enough for a conventional thermometer. When used 'contactless', you press the 'on' button at the bottom, position it around 5cm from the space between and just about the eye brows and press the temperature button. A three stage animation pops up immediately take take the temperature, which must take no more than 2 or 3 seconds. If you haven't got the distance to the subject right, an animation guides you in and the temperature is then taken automatically. When used as a forehead thermometer, the routine is exactly the same but even more foolproof - just place the soft sensor area on the subject forehead and press the temperature button. When the temperature has been read the display shows the reading in large, bright, backlit numbers. The backlighting also reflects the reading - green for a normal temperature, yellow for slightly raised and red for high. There is also a slide switch on the side to mute all system sounds, which I have found useful as it makes the process feel even less invasive. My main caveat is that the subject needs to have been indoors for at least 30 minutes before using the thermometer, which may perhaps present a problem for GPs etc considering buying one of these. I should also say that, when I first turned it on, I got an error message a few times but this went away in a few minutes and I haven't had a repeat since.

Accurate for Adults, Unreliable for Kids
This thermometer works well for adults, providing consistent and accurate readings. The Celsius/Fahrenheit switch button is convenient, and the mute function is great for taking temperatures quietly, especially at night. However, it is not reliable for kids at all. I noticed it consistently shows higher temperatures, which made me double-check using other thermometers. Unfortunately, those comparisons confirmed that this one gives inaccurate readings for children. If you’re buying this mainly for adults, it’s a solid choice. But for kids, I’d recommend looking for something more precise.
