JBL Car GTO 609C 6.5 Inch 2-Way Component Speaker System Including x2 Midrange Speakers and x2 Tweeters - Black

I initially tried to get hold of a certain set of discontinued Pioneer coaxial speakers, but to no avail. These were next on my list. I've installed a huge number of speakers into my cars over the years, but these JBL's are by far the strangest I've ever fitted. I'd read the other reviews regarding "break in" time and was prepared to have to bed them in. What I wasn't prepared for were quite possibly the most ragged and harsh out of the box sound ever for speakers around this price range. I was shocked at how bad they were. Dull mids, almost no bass and tweeters as shrill as a baby screaming through a loudhaler. They look and feel well made and have about every type of fitting you'll ever need in the box. I'm about three weeks in now and I've slowly been talking up the volume and tweaking the frequency inputs. They now sound astonishingly good. I mean, really good. It's like they refused to wake up until they'd been teased a little first. Bass is good for the size. Don't expect more than a decent high range punch. Mids are clean and energetic. The highs are much less shrill now and reproduce beautifully. The crossovers have a tweeter "boost" but you'll only need that if they're away from your ears a fair bit. If you are patient, these are worth the wait, I promise.

I bought these as an addition to a high end JL audio system in my Vectra C. After reading some reviews after making the purchase i wasnt expecting great things and initially when trying them out i was dissapointed for minutes only. But then after tuning things in and running them for almost an hour they slowly came to life. They sound awesome. They are coupled up to an amp but my oh my they sound good. Very pleased 😀

Amazing improvement to any OEM system. Very easy to install lots of different backplates etc. Suitable for DIY installation. Once broken in, and with a decent amount of power, they will sing. Used these for >5yr in current car, and in previous car, and still work perfectly. Add a 12 or 15 sub for completeness.

Amazing sound quality from jbl and the covers are a nice finish as with any new speakers they need to bed in a little bit but once they have they sound really nice good bass for a mid range speaker and crystal clear tweeters

I like the warm sound of these speakers. The build quality of the crossover casing could be better and would have preferred the tweeters to sit more flush, but I am still happy with my purchase. Not sure of the bass levels on their own, but have them in a box with a bass port and this has plenty of bass for me.

Worthwhile upgrade to stock speakers in a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter. I am delighted with the end results. Power and depth that was not there before. Good work JBL.

I became a JBL fan over 16 years ago when I started my DJ career and since then JBL NEVER failed me. Fabulous high, mid and low range ,built to last. If you know how to set up the equipment and install properly I promise you won't be disappointed. I installed them on a Caddy from 2010 and the sound it's absolutely amazing.

Ich musste bei meinem T5 die Werklautsprecher tauschen. Die Dinger sind nur hauchdünn einem 5€ Bluetooth Lautsprecher überlegen. Also ging ich auf die Suche. Was soll ich sagen, man wird erschlagen von Angeboten. Wie soll man da weiterkommen? Zuallererst wollte ich für Türlautsprecher nicht mehr als 100-120€ ausgeben, da ich alleine durch den Einbauort, akustisch gesehen, keine Wunder erwarte. Wer 400€ Lautsprecher in eine Tür stopft, hat meiner Meinung nach Zuviel Geld. Akustisch ist nur noch der Fußboden schlechter als die Tür. Aber lassen wir das. Vielerorts wurden die ETON Pow angepriesen, die mir mit 160€ aber schlichtweg zu teuer waren. Um ganz ehrlich zu sein, abseits des Car HIFI sind solche Boxengrößen für die Hälfte zu haben. Bei den JBL blieb ich hängen, da sie a) genau meine Preisregion waren b) von der Abstimmung der Control1 ähneln sollen (naja) und da ich c) den JBL Badewannen Frequenzverlauf ganz angenehm finde. Da Türlautsprecher enorm auf eine gute Dämmung angwiesen sind ( Muss preislich immer drauf geschlagen werden, Alubutyl kostet die Rolle so 35€) habe ich dies erstmal erledigt. Das alleine ist bei Bussen ne SCH**** Arbeit. Nach getaner Arbeit habe ich die JBL verbaut und zack: Sie klingen genauso, wie ich es erwartet habe von JBL. Sie haben den Typischen Badewannenverlauf. Also Bässe und Höhe angehoben, Mitten eher zurückhaltend. Ich war erstaunt, dass die JBL mit Kicks so gut klar kamen. Relativ staubtrocken auf den Mann. Nur bei mehr Bass fingen sie an zu verzerren. Man sollte also ruhig machen. Da sind andere Modelle aber auch nicht besser. Physik hat ihre Grenzen ;) Was mir anfangs nicht gefiel, waren die Hochtöner. Die waren viel zu hart. Diese entschärft mit EQ und Absenkung und zack: ein wirklich sehr ausgewogenes Klangbild für die miesen Verhältnisse im Bulli. Mit HIFI hat das natürlich nichts zu tun. Aber der Unterschied zu vorher war gigantisch. Die Werklautsprecher klangen wie Pampe dagegen. Aber nochmal, ohne Türdämmung kann man sich den Austausch sparen. ich gehe sogar soweit, dass man kaum Verbesserungen ohne erzielen kann!!! Im Übrigen habe ich in einem T4 die Audio System Konkurrenten gehört und fand die nicht besser. Mir gefielen meine sogar besser, da sie mehr nach Heimanlage klangen. Die Eton's würde ich auch noch mal gerne hören, aber konnte noch niemanden finden, der sie hat. Die Verarbeitung der Boxen ist naja normal. Was soll man erwarten? Die Frequenzweiche ist etwas billig verarbeitet. Gut sind die Hochtöner, wenn man sie entschärft hat. Die bringen einiges. Insgesamt bin ich mit insg. 150€ Materialeinsatz sehr zufrieden. Ich wage zu behaupten, dass ein Großteil die Dämmung ausmacht. Das Klangbild ist meinem Geschmack entsprechend. Andere wollen andere Klänge, jeder wie er will. Ich glaube aber, viel mehr holt man auch mit 200€ Lautsprechern in der Größe nicht mehr raus. Preis/leistung also hervorragend.
