Hachiman Hikigaya is a cynic. 'Youth' is a crock, he believes--a sucker's game, an illusion woven from failure and hypocrisy. But when he turns in an essay for a school assignment espousing this view, he's sentenced to work in the Service Club, an organization dedicated to helping students with problems in their lives! How will Hachiman the Cynic cope with a job that requires--gasp!--optimism? Review: Great start to an excellent romantic comedy - Hachiman Hikigiya is not a pleasant person, and this book really makes you realise that. Through silly quips and tasteless jokes, he really shines through as someone who has truly gained the tag of "loner". Despite his rough starts, the series as a whole really provides excellent scenarios in this character-driven romance/drama/comedy series with amazing interactions between the three main characters introduced in this story. Review: Funny, Intelligent and PERFECT - Great story with a great set of characters which are all memorable and go well together. The story is also very funny and intelligent at the same time. Would recommend it to all age groups and anyone who is looking for their first light novel to get into.

Excellent book, poor condition.
Book was not in excellent condition as one might expect when buying new with folded pages and marks on the cover. The book itself though, is excellent.

Reality explained. Worth.
Master work. This is not really a romantic comedy, more like a parody of it. The book depicts the real world, highlighting its flaws and unmasking all hypocrisy. Really worth reading, as it talks about all those serious topics, while mixing it with such a great humor.
