Beautiful product for a skilled repairer
As others have mentioned, not one for the faint-hearted in terms of soldering (I used a Dekton DT60240 LED Magnifier with Clamps and Soldering Stand to help me, which was perfect for this job, and took it really steadily, stopping every time I wanted to curse!), but when assembled it's a really nice plug that will fit through the earphone socket gap in most phone cases - the diameter of the external part is 6mm. Every other plug I found was over 9mm and would not have fitted. Also this is much more elegant looking. It comes with two tiny pieces of metal shaped like a C - I couldn't work out what they were for and they were so small I had little confidence I could fit them correctly in any case. So I just left them out. I think they were for some kind of cable clamp/crimp, but I don't know how they should work.I'm really happy with the result - well worth the money. I don't think it would be possible to get this small a plug without the soldering challenge.

Ideal, but need the right tools
Well made, very smart and came with heatshrink wrap. As others have said this is not the easiest plug to solder to. There is very little space to work with and even using a low watt soldering iron with a very fine tip the plastic started to melt on the top wire. If you have a bench with great lighting and adjustable clamps to hold everything in place then you can achieve a very neat finish... if not, forget trying to do it whilst holding together with one hand and soldering with the other.

Better quality than the entire headphones
Bought one of these plugs to repair a friends Beats - Tour headphones. To be honest, the plug is better quality than headphones. I'd have saved the £5.99 price and put the money towards a good set of headphones, but that's just me.This plug is a lot smaller than the usual TRRS bulky replacements you can get from Maplin, so they can be a bit fiddly. In order to make a good job of repairing the headphones, you ideally need a soldering iron that gets hot enough to burn through each conductors lacquer. You need a vice and an overhead magnifying glass would be very useful. Strip the outer insulation back about an inch, tin each plug pole, tin each conductor then once you've sorted out your wire colours, solder each wire to the correct pole. The only thing that I would have liked on this plug is some sort of clamp to hold the cable more securely... These headphones are so poorly made, I'd wager that they're fake.. unless All Beats - Tours are this badly made.

Fiddly to solder
Bought this to repair a broken jack on a gaming headset. As mentioned in other reviews it helps if you have a black belt in soldering. Really fiddly to assemble. Otherwise looks like good quality.

Great quality, would buy again
By far the best quality replacement plug I've ever had. Yes, the poles are pretty small, however, nothing that careful soldering won't manage. All the pins worked, including the microphone pin (first time for me and about 3 other replacement plugs over the years). The housing and included strain relief are excellent for a replacement plug too.

Read the reviews. Was not suitable for Bose soundsport earphone.
If there were only 4 wires in my Bose Soundsport earphones, as illustrated for this product, then I might have succeeded. With a fine-tipped soldering iron and a helping-hands tool, I was able to solder the RRS connections to get functioning stereo sound. But in my earphones, there were 3 earths - 1 from the left, 1 from the right (both shielded) and a third, unshielded earth covering the white microphone lead. Now, you can't run an unshielded wire from where it enters the plug to the furthest soldering point without it touching other parts of the plug. It would require a tiny sleeve (certainly smaller than the 1mm heat shrink I had available) to protect the microphone earth.Even then, the tolerances are small. The illustration suggests solder the left (blue) lead on the outside of the ring, but that makes it very difficult to push the case back over the plug to close it.Read the reviews. I'm not sure that anyone says they successfully fitted one of these jack plugs and got all functions (left, right, mic and in-line volume/track control) working.Choose a cheaper, if less beautiful, TRSS jack that is suitable for home repair.

Very good finish
I purchased some cheap-looking 3.5 mm jacks from Amazon. They had only three rings so I couldn't use the microphone or volume controls on my Sennheiser Momentum earplugs. The quality and finishing was horrible. I saw these and got them. Such a difference. I suffered soldering the wires in with my 30W soldering iron. I recommend trying with something more powerful. You will absolutely need a helping hand tool to keep everything in place as you solder. This jack looks better and is of better quality than the one that came attached to the earplugs.

Difficult to solder, but good looking
Because not so expensive, small and good looking I decided to give it a try.At the beginning I could not soldering it because require a lot pf precision and skills so I gave it 3 stars, but i persevered and with a lot patient I managed to attach all the wire. At the end I am very pleased with the result (it looks very close to the original). Note that I did not use the supplied silver cover, I preferred to use the original one that came with my HTC earphone that fit well with it.
