Lovely, but too expensive today
I love this coffee. It may be too dark, bitter for many afficiandos, but for good or ill this is the perfect coffee flavour profile for me.However, the recent price rises mean I now buy direct from the manufacturer. Nearly half the price compared to what it is selling for currently here.

Good but expensive
This is good coffee I really enjoyed it but I won't buy it again as it has tripled in price in three years. Shame.

Love the flavour
I love this coffee. I am from Seattle and finding good coffee here in UK has been a chore. This is quite nice

I am in coffee heaven and in no rush to leave
This is a mixed product page and so reviews are lumped in together. This review is for the French roast. I can’t comment on other varieties.I took a bit of a punt with this as I have never heard of the company before despite them having a UK office in Wales – I am guessing the roasting and packing takes place there. I am glad I took a chance with it as this has just gone straight into my number 1 slot for French roasts. The roast is to perfection, just getting to the point where the oils are oozing out, but without the burn. The beans are a deep dark brown colour and the aroma is exactly what I want from a roast. When I think of coffee, this is exactly what I imagineDark roasts are not for everyone, but they are my favourites and this one packs a punch. I use it in a bean to cup to make Lattes. The milk can often weaken the flavour, but this one shines through. As a straight coffee it can be a bitter, but I tend to use lighter roasts for straight coffee. This one is nicely priced at £9.50 which is just as well as I polished off a bag in less than a month and I am the only coffee drinker in the house. I have ordered more and it is likely to be a regular purchase now.

Good taste but too much moisture
As reported elsewhere good taste, but too oily/much moisture in the beans and they clog the grinder.

Cheaper elsewhere
Great coffee, but has had a huge price jump since I started buying it on here. Cheaper to buy directly through SFB, and they offer a subscription service.

Variable - beware.
Love this coffee - it's my favourite - but just check the (variable) cost as it can double overnight! Keep an eye out for best value.

Possible my favourite coffee yet!
I've been on a coffee journey for about five years now and started off with shop-bought ground coffees of many different varieties which seemed like the best thing ever, then graduated to grinding my own beans at home at the beginning of the pandemic, which was a totally next-level experience.I've tried a few different beans since then; the online subscriptions, the big brands and various other types, but I think I've struck gold with these beauties. I realised through trying different types of coffee that I prefer a pungent, smoky dark and strong coffee - and if that sounds like your cup of coffee, then I suggest you drop what you're currently doing and buy a bag of these beans.Don't get me wrong, there are some people who like the subtleties of their coffees and describe their favoured brews in the same way pretentious wine connoisseurs describe a fine Bordeaux or whatever, but I'm emphatically not one of these people. When I drink tea, it's got to be builders tea - and when I drink coffee it's a similar affair; I like it strong, dark and pungent, with a decent caffeine kick to to things off - and this stuff excels in all of those areas. If I was to say anything negative at all about these beans, it would be that, due to them being fairly oily, they do make a bit of a mess of my grinder. I've got a DeLonghi burr grinder and this stuff sticks to everything, which will make it interesting when I do eventually switch to a different coffee.Anyway, for the time being I've actually made a monthly subscription this this stuff as it's so good, which makes its already cheap cost even cheaper so it's a big WIN to enter the gates of coffee heaven and save some pennies in the process. I would suggest you give it a go.
