John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Dark Cool Espresso Brown, 1 Application

I have fine, 2B/2C, low-porosity hair that’s collarbone length (level 7 at the roots, with some leftover dye from a few months back). I used John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in Dark Cool Espresso Brown, and here’s the breakdown: Pros: •The foam texture is a game-changer—super easy to apply, way less messy than the typical creams. •The color is exactly as described. No accidental “oops, it’s basically black now” situation (looking at you, every other dark brown dye). •The conditioner is actually a travel-size tube instead of the sad little aluminum packet most brands give you. Cons: •My color isn’t perfectly even, but that’s on me for being lazy and skipping proper sectioning. Don’t be me; do the sections. Overall: Highly recommend! I only needed one box (with a bit left over), the color is rich and true-to-tone, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing. Bonus points for making my hair feel soft and shiny after. Ive always boxed dyed my hair at home and this brand is by far the most accurate and dependable color for me. For context I have very porous medium brown hair with a red undertone and spots of gray. My hair is mid-long length at about armpit length. I use 2 boxes and still have plenty left after saturating my hair. My hair always turns out to be a dark brown color- not black, which is hard to accomplish with a lot of dark brown hair colors. Not that I care to color my gray strands, it does accomplish this. I just try to have more uniform colored hair due to the undertones I naturally have. The dye itself is very easy to work with and a lot less messy than traditional box dye due to the foam. Some tips I would recommend are to place vaseline or petroleum jelly around your hair line, neck being your ear, around your ear tips, etc to avoid getting dye on your skin. This is inevitable with every hair dye if you are pressed on making sure your roots and edges are dyed. After you finish the dye and you have to wait, you can use some type of wipe, wash cloth, etc to wipe where the dye/vaseline are and it comes right off.

I used 4PBN in the photo. My Hair before was faded to reddish medium sorta dark brown and I was over it. My goal was always a perfect neutral dark brown but in my experience in the past whether I went to the salon or if I did color on my own it always ended up a dark red brown or just jet black. This color gave me the dark brown I wanted and the cool tones really muted all the red that I had I’m honestly shocked that it worked this good and didn’t turn my hair black. Cleanup was easy, no harsh stains, no pungent smell, application was a breeze. Almost too good to be true. The ONLY thing that didn’t work was it didn’t color my roots which was strange to me because my natural growth is a very light brown, so I have to go get those done.

So easy to use. Lasts for 2-3 months depending on your shampoo.

this is my favorite hair dye of all time. it makes my hair feel sooo good i can even brush the color through while processing because of how silky the foam is. the color is a PERFECT dark smokey ash brown. please never ever stop making this product/shade or i would cry.

The most absolute worst hair dye. While application is easy, your hair is left course and unnatural. Even after numerous states of washing. Doesn’t cover grey either.

Picked this up for my wife and let me just say — John Frieda’s Precision Foam Colour delivered big time. This was the easiest hair color to use, and the color was great after, but after the 2nd wash a lot of color was coming out and looked like I never even did it to begin with. There was no damage and I was able to color again with a different brand, also with no damage,its a shame because I really liked the foam.
