My 1st Mount Cutter. Easy to use, professional looking results.
I've only used this for a few days but it's so easy and I'm personally getting perfect mounts each time.I'm cutting larger mounts with openings of around 40cm x 55cm which would have cost me a lot if done by a professional they're taking me 10 minutes and costing a few £'s.Straight edge cutter slices like butter and allows you to cut the board down to size.Switch over to the bevel cutter, make sure you've lined up everything correctly and that does the same but with a bevel edge. It's that easy.To get the perfect cut just make sure you follow the guide markings and that you always have a sharp blade inserted which are replaceable.I was warned by professional framers and enthusiasts alike not to get a Logan and instead spend hundreds on a different brand but I'm glad I ignored them. This works perfectly well.

Good product for home crafts.
Very pleased so far with trial work using this mount cutter. The instruction leaflet is helpful but the online video is much clearer. I recommend working with both until you are really sure what to do. Good quality mountcard of the correct thickness seems to be important in giving good clean cuts. Make sure the squaring bar that sticks out to the side of the cutting board is well pressed down into the socket, so it doesn't move at all under pressure. Work on a large table or flat surface and get a comfortable height set up. Work in a good light too, so you can see easily over the cutting board and read all the measurements accurately. If I encounter any problems I will update my review.

A good investment if you need to cut backing board or foam board regularly.
This product has saved me a lot of frustration. I used to spend ages cutting backing boards with a craft knife and ruler on a cutting mat. I used to get through several blades in one day, make mistakes and have to redo (or disguise) my work whenever the ruler slipped. This cutter has solved my problems. Yes, it is a lot more expensive than a craft knife, ruler and cutting mat, but I can now be confident that every cut I make will be made once. This has saved me a lot of time. After several days, I am still using the same blade, which means my cuts are being made more efficiently. I now enjoy cutting the board and seeing the lovely, clean edge this device gives me. The blades also have a setting for cutting foam board, but I haven't tried that option yet.

Cut your own mounts - and your costs
It takes some care and practice, but given the willingness to supply those, this will produce perfect mounts time after time in any size you want - both the bevel and the board margins - and cut the cost of your framing dramatically. You'd be amazed at how many good-quality frames are available second-hand, especially at car boot sales, provided that you can cut mounts to non-standard sizes.Just be sure you have acres of space to use it - remember that you will need to add any overlap of the board you are cutting to the assembled size of the cutter, plus space for yourself to move round, since different blades have different working positions. Working in too cramped a space is a quick way to waste expensive board.

If you're going to make a mount, get a decent cutter
This is not the smallest or cheapest set they make, but the extra parts included and the larger scale make a vast difference in the ease of use and accuracy of results. For making mounts to sell artwork at sometimes relatively high prices, that final quality can make or break a sale, and it's worth getting it right. The whole thing packs down into a reasonably sized box and is of strong build and reliable.

Very Impressed
For the price this is an excellent product, can handle mount board up to A1 but the square bar is not really long enough to accurately square large board A2 and above but you can always mark these up with by hand with a long ruler and just use the guide rail to make the cut. Cutters work very well and the stop/start marker on the bevelled cutter is spot on. Mat guide also works well but so far has not been big enough for many of my mounts. So far I have done 15 mounts and only mucked one up and that was my fault. I have been used to using an A0 cutter that was around eight or nine times the price and this one compares very well and the resultant quality of cut is just as good just takes a lfew seconds longer.

Mat cutting made easy
This is an excellent mat cutter. It is very easy to measure, mark then cut a mat. The question when buying was whether to buy the more expensive Elite 350-1 or the Classic 301-1. I am pleased that I chose the 350-1 because it is possible to resize mat board, mark out the aperture section and cut the bevel accurately without using a tape measure or ruler. The side arm measure with sliding stop and the sliding stops on the straight edge make measuring and automation of cutting multiple mats so easy and accurate. The resizing tool appears metallic in the picture but is actually made from a tough nylon. It is still robust enough to cut the matting to size and is very accurate. It hooks on to the straight edge guide and cuts a perfect straight line. There may be a possibility of cutting a less accurate straight edge when resizing using the 301-1 and supplied matting knife. It comes with a guide book which is ok and a CD that takes you through cutting different types of mat. Unfortunately my CD was glitchy and didn't work. It didn't matter because all sections are available on Youtube. It is worth going through the main sections before using the cutter because it demonstrates the simplicity with which a mat can be cut.You can cut bevels on matting up to A1 size, but that is the limit. More than enough for me, and I suspect most people. Overall a really good buy and very well made.
