Great tool. Very well made. Made my life so much easier digging fence post holes.

Finish the Job With This
My experience of using this brings me to view it as a help in clearing earth from holes opened by another method. Strength is needed in using. The bolts on it need ongoing viewing to ensure they remain in place. A lot of effort is needed to make a hole with this compared with other Augers. Generally, it is not the first tool reached for, for post hole making. T S Hamilton

Sturdy durable for professional use
In general Roughneck have a good range and they are tough for hard commercial use. The Roughneck post hole digger is about as robust you can find and Amazon do offer them at a competitive price. It is imperative to check the fastenings regularly on these or you will lose a fixing down a hole, I try and remember to check and tighten things up every month or so. The longer handles do make it slightly easier to use

easydig
This Roughneck Post hole digger replaced the on I had that needed the handles to be 'opened ' to remove spoil, to use this machine simply push the handles together and the result is the ability to dig very easily a neat parrallel sided full depth fence post hole . The result a perfect size hole requiring less concrete mix to set the post, Great piece of equipment.

Much more robust and worth the extra money over the next model down.
I run an engineering company and my site engineers use post hole diggers on a daily basis. I've previously been buying the slightly cheaper roughneck model Roughneck 68250 Post Hole Digger - Hercules Pattern but my engineers seem to break them every few months. I wasn't aware that they made a heavy duty version like these and they're much much better and definitely worth the extra money if you use them regularly and want them to last. The double hinge mechanism also means you can dig much deeper narrow diameter holes as you don't need the wider diameter to be able to close the spade heads together thanks to the extra hinge. UPDATE 25/02/2019 - I've dropped the rating to 1* now as 3 out of 4 sets have broken, all have broken at the same place so it's either a manufacturing defect OR it's a design faulty. I'm waiting to hear back from Olympia Tools who make Roughneck products to make a claim on their 25 year warranty.

It does exactly what I wanted and you can go really deep without the handles snagging on the hole
