Buy one then buy another
I've built two digital amateur television [BATC Portsdown] transmitters based around a Raspberry Pi 3B. Each one used a Waveshare Model A screen as the display. At some point during both builds, soon after the Amazon goods return date had passed, the screen died or became unresponsive. So I had to buy a second one. Grrrr. These have endured because they've been housed, undisturbed and just used as normal touchscreens.

Paket ist angekommen, DIsplay wurde angeschlossen, die nötigen Treiber installiert und es läuft alles tiptop. Über größere Probleme kann ich berichten wenn welche vorkommen, aber bisher alles in Ordnung.

Works well, no additional drivers needed with Jessie. Screen is clear. Steps to enable: 1. enable SPI and I2C in raspi-config 2. reboot 3. sudo modprobe flexfb width=320 height=480 regwidth=16 init=-1,0xb0,0x0,-1,0x11,-2,250,-1,0x3A,0x55,-1,0xC2,0x44,-1,0xC5,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,-1,0xE0,0x0F,0x1F,0x1C,0x0C,0x0F,0x08,0x48,0x98,0x37,0x0A,0x13,0x04,0x11,0x0D,0x00,-1,0xE1,0x0F,0x32,0x2E,0x0B,0x0D,0x05,0x47,0x75,0x37,0x06,0x10,0x03,0x24,0x20,0x00,-1,0xE2,0x0F,0x32,0x2E,0x0B,0x0D,0x05,0x47,0x75,0x37,0x06,0x10,0x03,0x24,0x20,0x00,-1,0x36,0x28,-1,0x11,-1,0x29,-3 4. sudo modprobe fbtft_device debug=3 rotate=90 name=flexfb speed=16000000 gpios=reset:25,dc:24 Your screen will not be black. Next you need to get a terminal running on it. 5. edit /boot/cmdline.txt append fbcon=map:10 fbcon=font:VGA8x8 to the end. This will map your terminal to the HDMI port and this screen. 7. Follow Lady Ada's advice "and sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup and go thru to select Terminus 6x12" restart. you now have a working screen.
