Fine book on development of electric bass, not only Fender
I like this book and recommend it to anyone who is interested in the bass (even if you play contrabass, it is valuable and highly interesting!). The book starts with the early development and transition from the double bass to the electric bass and the major influence this phenomenon had on modern music. I don't find the book to be biased toward Fender, the author mentions and illustrates many other brands. Most striking is the dramatic effect that reliable, amplified electric basses had on modern music. A good read, well illustrated, objective.

What every fan of this icon should read
I have been a Fender Bass owner and user for over 30 years and have long been of the opinion that they are the epitome of what electric bass is capable of. I found this book to be well researched, informative, interesting and full of conclusive evidence that the storyline of the Fender Bass, its legacy, its fundamental role in both the origins and subsequent development of the music that I love (and many other genres too) is a unique one and this was a story that needed to be told and, in this work, has been fully realised.
