Saves cost of a new lens
I tend to buy Hoya UV filters for my lenses as their quality is excellent whilst not being outrageously expensive . Having read that UV filters are not really necessary for digital cameras, but still wanting to protect the lens, I decided to purchase this filter . A lens hood protects a lens to a certain extent but having a filter adds that extra level of protection and it is much cheaper to replace a filter than it is a lens. Hoya has an excellent reputation as a filter maker and I have used them for many years. This filter does not affect the quality of the image and is multi coated. Happy !

Great glass
As ever, spot on. I have several of these for my lenses in various sizes. Not cheap but why would you spend a fortune on good glass and then stick a bottle bottom on the front of it? Near invisible and not degradation of IQ at all I can see.

A perfect fit.
Beautifully engineered - fits perfectly & accepts the original lens cap of my Lumix LX100 without issue. Sufficient thread to accept a JJC lens hood & no vignetting.

Protecting an expensive lens.
As expected a very high quality filter. Not cheap, but I was fitting it to an expensive camera and I considered it worth the money rether than compromising the camera's performance.
