Shoe Goo - Adhesive Glue - Black

Bought the black version primarily to repair a pair of good quality black Clarks shoes which have had extensive use and were showing signs of the sole separating from the body at one heel. I'd previously made unsuccessful attempts to carry out the repair using an expensive contact adhesive but Shoe Goo was much more successful. I degreased and abraded the areas to be glued then got the goo into the right place with the aid of cocktail sticks. I've been wearing the shoes for a couple of weeks now and the repair appears to be rock solid. The goo sets like a fairly hard rubber. I left the shoes for 3 days before using to be on the safe side. I also managed to make an effective repair to some holes in an old canvas work bag This stuff now joins my "must have" repair list alongside Milliput - I can see it being invaluable for any number of repairs. UPDATE: Have carried out lots of repairs snd still rate this very highly. BUT, it's very important to make sure that material to be repaired is dry, free of grease, well abraded and I would advise leaving 3 days before using after.

I used this for the first time, despite a shoe repairer's advice that "nothing works". But it has worked, filling various cracks and small holes in a pair of well-loved and well-used shoes. Not easy to obtain a perfect finish [smoothing with an ice block helped] - hence the 4, but it has stuck to the rubber sole securely and is holding. I am pleased I tried it. How long it will last remains to be seen, but it is always possible to add some more.

You cab, of course, fix shoes with this but I wanted it for another purpose. If you're looking at buying this for shoes then, in all honesty, there isn't much point in you reading much more of this review, but thanks for your time. This stuff is basically like a thick, liquid rubber. I have an old Alfa on which the rubber seals which run along the top of the waistline of the door, and into which the windows lower had started to crack at the back edges. The part is no longer available from the manufacturer, so I needed to attempt a repair, hence the purchase of this stuff. It was a bit fiddly, but I have to say its worked very well. I cleaned the area then applied it, and I though it was going to look a bit messy, but as it dries, it tends to level out into a smooth surface. Its covered and filled in the old, cracked rubber and left a neat finish. Its a bit shinier than the rest of the rubber on the seal, but nothing that some black trim polish can't sort out and its improved things a lot, and reduced significantly the chance of water ingress into the door.

One of the few places to get this remarkable stuff in black. With excellent adhesion to all shoe and boot materials, this has fixed minor problems for years where soles start to part company, heels wear unevenly or holes appear where they shouldn't. I've also used it on walking stick ends, bags and cases, definately one to keep handy. Carefully clean all surfaces before applying, roughen with a blunt knife if a smooth surface too. For building up a sole or heel a number of thin layers applied over a couple of days is a much better fix than one thick application. Carefully clean the threads before replacing the cap if you want to get it off again. Finally ensure you have plenty of ventilation if you can't do the repair outside as the fumes are very strong and head fuggling 8)

Can't get a local repair shop (Inverness) to even TRY to repair my worn ECCO walking boots, so I tried Shoe Glue on one pair of Eccos and one pair of Merrills. Put two layers of SG on each pair of heels with 24 hours between coats. Left 'em for 72 hours and then walked my dog. Both pairs of boots have done a couple of forest / beach walks of between 4 and 5 miles and the repairs have stood up well. These repairs were solely (pardon the pun!) built up repairs, ie, there was no replacement heel glued on. So Far, there is no sign of the edges fraying or the repair becoming unstuck. I intend keeping an eye on this and if it looks like a permanent solution it is TONs cheaper than getting boot resoled, hence the 'so far, so good' title to this review.

Great product to bring life back into tired soles. Flexible and waterproof. Remember to clean shoe and rough prior to applying. Always use product in good ventilation and avoid the inhalation of fumes as they are harmful.

This is a flexible fast-drying 'rubbery' glue with various applications. I have used it for years to glue lots of different things. To be entirely honest, I have glued the same shoes many times and while I reckon Shoe Goo is the best I've used, my shoes have never stayed stuck for more than a few weeks-months. I suspect that glueing is always going to be hit and miss depending on the nature of the sticking needed. Where there is a very heavy pressure on the shoe to sole join, I believe it's often too much for any glue. As for other applications I have never had any problems and the sticking I have done with Shoe Goo has always stayed stuck...

Rellena perfectamente el desgaste del talón. Se mantiene sólidamente unido a la suela, habiendo limpiado previamente ésta.

Prodotto interessante, non ho, ad ora, trovato validi sostituti nelle colle per scarpe che si trovano in giro (mastici, bostik, pattex vari). Forma uno strato che una volta secco è praticamente una gomma dura/plastica morbida. Ho applicato mediamente un nuovo strato ogni 4-5 sessioni di skate, la quantità di colla necessaria è minima e si modella facilmente con un dito bagnato. Indispensabile se si vuole allungare la vita delle scarpe evitandone forature nei punti più esposti al grip della tavola. Non l'ho ancora provato sulle suole.

Facile da usare, si asciuga bene. È possibile anche usare più strati se si deve rattoppare un buco in una suola di gomma, avendo cura di fare asciugare bene tra uno strato e l'altro. Ottima tenuta, impermeabile.
