Strong dark cacao flavor, ginger aftertaste
If you're used to and prefer commercially made dark chocolate? This isn't it. It's not overly sweet, it's not loaded with ingredients, and it 100% Is Not Hershey's Special Dark. What is it, then? It's a boutique pack of 6 beautifully packaged dark chocolate bars encased in sealed plastic bag, then a paperboard wrap adorned with cacao pods and birds. Each has full nutritional information on them, down to a label showing tracability of ingredients. By ingredients, I mean all three of them, all pronouncable and recognizable.A serving size is one bar, and this is one of the few times I would say that's too much - it's rich, decadant, and packed with enough flavor that a square is enough to sate any chocolate craving for a while. The initial flavor is rich, with the ginger checking in as an aftertaste, not unpleasantly so.There is a slight bloom to the chocolate - that greyish residue on the surface - it's cocoa butter rising to the surface due to temperature change, typically. It affects appearance more than flavor. Despite this, it still has a lovely - almost difficult - snap to it and smooth mouthfeel.

Absolutely foul
I really hate giving bad reviews for something subjective like flavor, but holy cow this is bad. I really tried to like this. The chocolate itself is fine I'd say, but once the ginger hits it is overpowering and absolutely atrocious. It tastes like accidentally getting cleaning chemicals in your mouth. Every time I attempted to finish a bar I ended up chasing it with something else to wash the flavor out of my mouth.Mind you, I am a fan of both dark chocolate and ginger. This is comparable in flavor to buying an unprocessed ginger root, soaking it in the japanese pickling brine they use for sliced ginger, covering that in chocolate, and then taking a bite. I seriously wanted to vomit the first time I tried it.Maybe you'll like it, but I absolutely did not.

Yuck
Yuck! Did not like this flavor at all. Packaging looks so fancy and was really hoping I would like the flavor. But the ginger and chocolate combo just isn’t it.

True-to-taste dark chocolate, pick wisely
I got the 72% ginger experience chocolate, and I have a love-hate relationship with it. The packaging is great as it comes with 5 individually wrapped thin chocolate bars, each with its own colorful sleeve and labeling. The sleeves are initially held closed by clear circle adhesive, but there is a little tab spot you can use for re-closing it. Once you've got it open, the chocolate bar itself is contained in a sealed plastic sleeve. The bar design and cut look like in the stock photos, organized into a 3x4 grid. Of course, it doesn't always break along those lines, but it gets the job done. So everything looks great. But how's it taste? Well, with the 72% ginger experience, it's got a good balance of ginger, and a lot of that 72% dark. There is not a lot of added sugar to boost it (which is good), so if you're a fan of dark chocolate, these are some true-to-taste dark chocolate bars. Unfortunately for me, it is definitely darker and more bitter than I'm used to, but it's growing on me.

Chocolate has a great taste but the ginger over powers it by far
I will start by saying that. I absolutely adore dark chocolate and love love ginger. I was impressed with the 72% organic chocolate in this bar. I do think the chocolate flavor is pretty good here, but unfortunately it is over masked by ginger. You have to search really hard for the chocolate with that kick up ginger that comes in just a minute after the chocolate starts to warm up in your mouth. It is good but a little too powerful as it ends up being the only thing you taste. It came in a cute little box that explained all of it's origins on it which was nice and it was actually wrapped within the wrapper and sealed plastic baggy. This is not keep it from blooming as it did come with a white cast to it. That's truly not a big deal because it can happen easily and shipping from one spot to the next with a temperature change but maybe off putting to some. Overall, they get in a A+ for the chocolate flavor and not so much for the ginger, while good, it was just too much.

U Organic 72% Dark Chocolate with Ginger Bars 1.58 oz 6 bars
A product of Peru and certified USDA organic this set of 6 dark chocolate bars are flavored with ginger. The ginger is used judiciously so it is a mild component that does not overpower the bright tasting 72 percent Amazonian cacao chocolate. Containing no milk products there are only 3 ingredients in the candy—cacao, coconut sugar and ginger.Sized in the regular candy bar range (1.58 ounce) each bar has 250 calories. The chocolate is creamy and melts luxuriously in the mouth. The graphics on the packaging, both the individual bar and the box that holds them all is exotic and attractive. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in February 2023 the Best Consumed date is 6 months in the future but dates will vary. Store in a cool dark place. Delicious.

Unique, spicy ginger flavor
I ordered the dark chocolate with ginger bars. The flavor combination is intriguing. The bitterness of dark chocolate is offset by spicy ginger. One small square leaves my tongue mildly numb. These are probably not for everyone, but I rather enjoy the experience. The chocolate tastes fresh and of good quality. The bars are relatively thin, but satisfying. The bars are beautifully packaged and would make a lovely gift for someone who likes exotic flavors. I love that these are organic and vegan. I would definitely try the brand's other flavors.
